For gaming industry MAX is the king. Also most companies use Character Studio. It depends on WHAT part of the production process you want to be in. For example, if you apply for a job at Blizzard you can either work on either animation for the RTR game or cinematics. Also, those are the kind of things you have to think on when you are preparing your demoreel. I've heard that MilkShape is some sort of lowpoly modeler, but it's most used for MODs. I know nothing about gmax. As for animating in Poser... well... let me say that Poser is the worst animation tool I've ever used. It's ok for basic animation, but the graph editors and such completly stink. Besides it will never become a "industry standard". I've seen some animatics done with poser characters (don't remember the movie) but that's all. I am a poser user myself but I am realistic. It shouldn't be your primary tool when it comes to making a demoreel.nemirc

Well. 2D is now based on "cell animation" It can be done completly in 2D (ie Titan AE) or 3D (everything else). Traditional 2D animation died a long time ago...

As far as I know, that's what the "pixel aspect ration" is used for. The output should look ok when played on the TV

The old image shows off two 3D characters. The new one displays a green frame and a face with glowing-blue eyes. I am linking to the new image from an external server right now. Nevertheless if I try to upload the new one it doesn't work (it displays the old one instead)

Very very well said, illusion3d. I've seen that a lot of people in the *industry* has never attended a specialized "computer graphics school" but they are "damn good" at what they do, and the answer to the "why" is that they "worked their ass off" as illusion3d said. It doesn't matter how many schools you attend because your skills are far more important that the cardboard saying that you have graduated. In my personal opinion, read books, download tutorials and pick a specific field (modeling, rendering or animation) and master it. Also, try to pick one single app and stick to it. I began with MAX but I started with Maya almost 2 years ago and all I can say is that I'll never pick softimage, max or lightwave unless I am required to (because of a job). I went a little off topic, sorry ![Message671422.jpg](http://www.renderosity.com/photos/Message671422.jpg) Hope this helps, just my "3 cents", hehehenemirc

I agree on the fact that the blue figure "pops out" from the composite. Nevertheless, I have a few pointers. First of all, I believe that the chatacter should be the center of interest in the last part. It gets out of the field of view twice and it doesn't look good to me. Second, there are no shadows. Third, maybe if you could add some distance fog and/or dust on the ground it would look nice. Just an idea. Fourth, the character looks too flat, as if it was "cel-shaded".nemirc
