This is Yuka by Subgraphic applied to V4.2
Any ideas? Is this just something one must live with when using shaders?
Thanks.

Bob's yer uncle!
Not sure what it means, but is sounds appropriate. Like baked beans with breakfast - sounds and looks strange, but goes well with bacon and eggs - perhaps I am becoming an Anglophile ;)
Thanks,

Hey, English Bob, thanks for the reply.
I assume you mean click on "browse", at least that's what is says below here. That's exactly what I did, and selected the JPG of my screenshot which I had put on my desktop. When I read the post, there was no file.
Is there a filesize restriction I may have violated (I think it was about 500k as I didn't use much compression).
The funny thing is, there was no warning and it took a few seconds to post - I assumed the file was transferring, but my post showed up - without screenshot.
Regards,
Klebnor

Hey! I got it to work!
I plugged the existing 2d diffuse image map node for the sky dome into the ambient color channel and ... Voila!
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Now if I could just figure out how to get a screenshot into my post!

Thanks for the help. I tried what you suggest and here's what I get. Still black. I think the problem is that the node I have is an image map of the sky for the sky dome, rather than a math node.

To anyone listening, when adding a node to alternate diffuse to make a sky dome self-illuminating, do I want to add a diffuse lighting node, or a 2d diffuse node with a sky jpg image map?
Everything I try either makes the sky completely white, or black (I have no lights pointed at the sky dome).
Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. Do you know where I can read up on plugging in shaders? I haven't developed any expertise at attaching or using nodes other than to fiddle around and see what works.
Thanks.

Sorry, morphious.
Next time I am in Sverdlovsk I will check out this Vista.
Did you know Morpheus was god of dreams to early Greeks?

Wow. CTRL+ALT+DEL prompts the computer to shut down ... are you kidding? Only if you're running windows 95 (and even then, you would have to do it twice). In every MS OS since NT (or 2000 or XP) CTRL+ALT+DEL opens the domain log on, or the task manager, depending on configuration.
I really don't think Wilber was trying to get you to self crash - the description to switch running apps is correct.

Sharen:
Do you mean open the Nvidia Control Panel and add Poser to the list under Manage 3D Settings? If so, I will try that ... although, clearing the cache seems to keep poser stable for me.
Vielen Dank!

BTW, I tried Sree3d and it just made preview look like I was drunk. Went right back to Open GL.
As stated, no recurrence of the mouse over crash since I started clearing the cache each time.
I think an option for "clear cache on close" would be helpful, given this problem.
Also, I have the latest Nvidia driver installed.

Intel Quad Dual Core Processor 2.66 GHZ
4.00 GB of Ram, 1 TB Raid 5 array
Microsoft XP Home SP3

I had this problem on and off for months. Usually when I tried to re-open a saved scene, but sometimes when loading a character in a new scene (nothing else loaded). Once these crashes started, I'd frequently have 5 or six in a row, and couldn't for the life of me figure out what I did to stop them.
I read in another post that someone had luck with clearing the cache. Hit control K to open general preferences, hit the "clear cache now" button - answer OK, then load your scene again or start your new scene.
I now clear the cache every time I start, and haven't had the "pop back to windows" crash since.
It appears that there can be a conflict with the cache from a prior session, and everything dumps. Interestingly, this even happens when I start back to the saved version of the last thing I was working on - one would assume the "undo/redo" files for the current scene would not conflict - but they do!
I also reduced the number of "Undo/Redo" from 100 to 10 levels ( I typically don't need to go back more than one step, so 10 is overkill for me ).
Hope this helps.

There are only two issues which bother me. Lighting and Memory management.
It would be great if the lighting intensity in the preview bore some slight relation to the final render, especially with IBL. I know, most of us know to "turn down the lights", but it's frustrating to have to render and render with minor adjustments to get a realistic result.
Memory management - well I've learned to wait until everything loads before daring to move my mouse, otherwise I snap back to the desktop. A reboot frees up the memory, but it's hard to remember to reboot when deep in a project.
That's it. Everything else is fine with me - I don't use the hair room, and am constantly learning in the material room, but that's half the fun.
