All you have to do, Pollee, is take out the instalation disk and Re-Install the Rendercow Program that came with Vue Infinite on every computer using Rendercow. That should fix up your problem...Well it did with me at least:)
Thread: Strange request for temp files | Forum: Vue
"what does this all mean?" There seems to be a problem with the network rendering using the rendercows after installing the Vue Infinite beta update, Pollee. When you install the update and launch the Rendercows for a render, they get updated. This update to the Rendercows seems to have a bug (on our systems at least) where Vue dosen't store the textures in the temp folder so the other computers on the network can get them. This causes un-textured blocks "Tiles" to appear in the final rendered image on the "Tiles" where the computers that could not get/find the textures they needed, rendered.

Looking good. I'll be picking up my copy of 3D World on tuesday. Is there anything in it on Vue Ifinite.
Thread: Strange request for temp files | Forum: Vue
Yes. What was happening to me was that I was getting black, un-textured squares from the computers that were looking for the texture maps in the temp folder.
It never happened with the computed with Vue Infinite installed on it (or should I say, the computer with the scene that was sending the job to the others), only the other computers using Rendercow on the network.

If you are using Rendercow to render, you'll get this error. That is what happened to me. Re-install the original rendercow on each computer. If you aren't using the rendercows, I am not sure what is going on. sorry:(

I too am having problems. I look at the sample scenes, read the book, and I have gotten no further. The manual is very good, though there is one thing that bugs me about it. It isn't written for a beginner. It is written in a way that if you do not have any experience in another 3D App and have come across some of the terms in a working condition, you are stuffed. Fractals are a good example. Also the word/term "nodes" is another example, because (until going through some Gnomon Online Maya Tutorials) I had never even heard of the word. And as for my first example, fractal, I heard a friend in the graphic department about 7 years ago mention it to someone. I have not found a explanation of it in the Vue Infinite manual yet (though there might be one I haven't seen yet). Looks like I will be spending a lot of time online, looking for definitions and examples. Love the Program though:)

agiel, I have Vue Infinite, but how the hell do you make it look like a cartoon. I know about the python script to createthe black outline, but the textures are what I cannot work out, and I can't seem to find a tutorial, or explanation in the manual. If you have a page number in the manual I have missed, I'll be most greatful. Thanks Gareth:)
Thread: Suggestion: if you have Infinite, get the latest patch | Forum: Vue
I installed the patch myself, but have had to remove it, as it has been causing texture errors (cannot find texture maps in the temp folder) and rendering errors (due to the missing textures) when using rendercow. I reinstalled the shipped version of rendercow on all my computers and the problem is no longer there. If anyone else is having the same problem, let me know please. Gareth:)

Thread: Please explain to me: BAKING global illumination | Forum: Vue
Ok, I understand that part, now my question to you or anyone is this.... Lets say you have a scene with only polygon objects (my understanding is that one can only bake GI/GR to polygon objects)and you bake the lighting on the objects, does Vue ignore calculating the lighting (GI/GR Lighting I mean)on the objects baked, or do you have to click the "Ignore Indirect Lighting" button for all the objects with GI/GR baked onto/into them. I am just not not sure if Vue calculates the lighting on the objects, regardless of IL/GR baking if you are rendering a scene with polygon objects as well as trees etc...

This is not the same Renderosity it was when I first joined up. Something has changed here and I find it very sad.
Having said that, I will continue to post my renders here, though from now on, I feel I will always have second doubts as to the level of my pictures/scenes.
To the Artist's like thomaskrahn, who share their secrets in how they created their renders, please, please, continue to do so.
thomaskrahn's Humidity Jungle tutorial helped me learn to create TWO beautiful renders (beautiful renders to me and some others at any rate), one of which won e-on's picture of the day.
The other was never submitted though I think it stood an excellent chance of winning as Vue4 had only been out for a few weeks or months by that time..... Here are the links...

and

The comment left by thomaskrahn after I sent him the link to show him what I did using his tutorial, is the Renderosity I remember. One where people helped one another and did not waste time on silly banter about Kitsch artwork or elitism.
I also feel it would be a great loss to the Vue Forum and Gallery if Robert, and others like him, were to leave. I may not agree with everything he and others have said here, but we all need something/someone to aspire to (if that is what you want).
To those who merely wish to have fun and show off their work or quick renders.... Why The Hell Not???
There is no set standard here (that I can see) and we all have to start somewhere.
I am one of the lucky ones that could/would fork out the 167,44 for Vue Infinite and I second the comment earlier that the users of Vue4; 4Pro and 5/Pro should not be intimidated by the new renders/scenes that will be hitting the galleries.
For me, Vue Infinite allows me to create scenes (like the two links above show) a lot more easily, with the added bonus of GR, GI and IBL, but I remind you that the two scenes were created in a Buggy Vue d Esprit 4, so the Eco-System is not necessarily a huge advantage. And for Vue4 Pro users, rodluc2001 has created an excellent GR lighting program that creates a Python script for you.
So... lets just have fun in what we are doing and help those who are learning...
Gareth:)
