speaking of which I think I may have to give up on Horton and do him when I have a little more skill in organics, getting an elephants trunk to blend to his face and make it seem like its all one piece is tough. I think I may do the cat in the hat next, he doesn't look too hard. Not that I gave up on Horton willingly, I re-modeled him 5 times trying to get it right. Perhaps later I'll come back to him and get it the 6th time around.

Yeah, I know, but I felt like taking pity upon the one who was blind to the word of the mesh maker. We're all here to have fun, and if I feel like doing a project on the side just to be nice...so be it.

Thread: Need a mace modelled in a specific style | Forum: 3D Modeling
Alright, I'll do/did it. But you've got to UV map it and texture it yourself. I took it up a step from the dinky looking one in the pic above if thats ok, if not too bad :)~ "...gothic and spikey," and ..."EXTREMELY BRUTAL in battle," kind of fall in the same class, or pretty closely related anyway. But I did my best to keep it to a low Goth standings. I was going to use a human femur bone for the handle but decided agents it. As far as credit, you don't have to put K.L.F. on your cards or on your art because I wouldn't want someone do that to me. But when you post it in the gallery under the authors comments I would like you to mention that I modeled the mace. Other than that your free to do with it what you will other than selling the model. Here are some renderings of it, I just threw on some random textures, poor render quality, but it will give you a look at it. Ahh..as for getting the actual model...I could send it to you on msn if you have that. Or I could upload it to the free stuff section for rhino, but then everyone and their dog would have it, Not that I care, but you might. However you want to do it let me know. pics http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=104060&Start=1&Sectionid=12&WhatsNew=Yes

Well, I'm in need of a project...but I have a few guidelines I need you to lay out if I decide to do this...first of all, how wild and bad ass can I get with the design (still following the general style of the one above of course) Or do you want it to be the EXACT mace as in the pic above? And...does it have to be textured and bumped? Or do you just want the mesh in .obj format? Lay down these parameters and I'll decide if I want to take it on. And lastly...will I get credit for it?
Thread: Starting salary for Animators? | Forum: 3D Modeling
Well, fresh out of college your not going to make a hell of a lot unless your really really good at what you specialize in. And being at the right place at the right time to get hired on us only up to fate to decide. I got a quote from full sail for starter 3d CG artist salaries...it was 35-40k fresh out of school for your first year. From there on up it all depends on how good you are, where you are, and where your willing to work. Some 3d CG artist get paid upwards of 90-100k a year, but you have to remember, they aren't fresh out of school, and they are really really good at what they do.

Well, first off max is more than just a rendering program, its a modeler, a render engine, a texture utility, as well as an animation system all in one. My suggestion would be to go to www.journeyed.com and look at some book titles like.. Max magic...3d studio max fundamentals...but, to get use out of those books you have to have the program, their kind of like cook books, you can't bake something without the ingredients. Ahh...if you just want to learn stuff like what these programs are capable of, you could browse the gallery's here for the various programs, or go to the companies website. 3D max: www.discreet.com photoshop: www.adobe.com bryce: www.corel.com Hope that helped some!
