OUCH!!!..... Well, thanks for the info. I run Photoshop, Painter, Flash, and a multitude of programs including Vegas Video, etc. with no problems. And, I have done some pretty large illustrations on that system. I probably will upgrade eventually, and although I think P5 is getting close... maybe no cigar, yet. Not so's I'd throw a lot of money into upgrades just to make it happy. I kinda suspected something like that.

Thread: Collision Detection Part 2 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I found that collision detection only works (sometimes) when you use the mouse to drag your item. It appears to not work when you use the parameter (posing) dials. Then it sometimes doesn't seem to work either way. Guess I need to learn more about it(?) You do have to have collision turned on for every item that is involved. (do that in the item's properties, next to it's parameters). P5, a wonderful perplexing wonderment. very mysterious, it seems.

OK... Tim...
Thanks.
The render was just the p4 (not FireFly or any of those other ones)for the jpeg at the top of this thread. For the movie, I just made a straight "render as display settings" rather than even use the p4 render. I let the windows default codex fly at 75% quality. (It was 4am and I kept passing out at my keyboard from sleep deprivation - dang new software!)
As for collision detection, I just let the collisions set up in the cloth room do their thing... wasn't sure whether to turn on the other or not... that's another test for another time. I excuded everything from collision except the chest/torso area, hips, butts and thighs.
This was a site better than some other attempts I had made, but perhaps I posted too early without perfecting the process first. I'm open to suggestions - as we all know there are no specific tuts for this yet other than the manual and what came with the program (I am not familiar with those other programs - Max - etc that use similar cloth setups as mentioned in another thread)... so my process is trial and error with the errors winning most of the time.
Thanks for the comments, everyone - maybe some other folks will post what they are up to and we can move ahead.

Thanks for taking a look... I agree with Tim on all of his points, however "Dancer" was a "study" and I wasn't aiming for perfection in resolution, rendering, etc. Strictly trying to get a handle on learning the workings of P5 - perhaps later when I get efficient at the basic mechanics I will do something that will make Tim proud. There were a number of glitches in "Dancer" (including the ones Tim mentions) that I intend to iron out as I continue my P5 education. Some of the posts in the forum seem to be folks encouraging others with things they are learning with the new software and where it can go (which I find pretty encouraging)... I have seen quite a few that are shining examples of unblemished perfection in rendering, textures and apparently perfect in every way, so we know that can be achieved.
Meanwhile, Tim, you are welcome to visit my web site... animation and letting the computer draw for me per se is not my main line... but perhaps you will get a chuckle out of some of the nonsense posted there.

To Gary Price... Thanks for posting the animations... I tried to watch both of them, but my quick time said it required some additional (plug-in??) which "was not available for download"..... What exactly would I need to be able to see your AVI? Thanks!

Thread: Face Room:Changing the face of Poser forever. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Phantast comments.... "If anyone has copyright over their face, news photographers might as well pack up their businesses now." Having worked in and around newspapers and heard sessions with their attorneys for about 14 years, the issue (as I understand it) is that if it is "news" and published as such that the publication is protected by first ammendment rights. Also if it is "parody" (as in "Mad" magazine type stuff) it is also protected by the first. Where the problem arises is when you use a person's likeness (such as a celebrity) to promote or sell a product or a cause, then the use of their likeness is protected (as the use of yours would be). So... if you plan to do Jolie's face and sell it in the on-line store (or any other way), better get your attorney paid up. If he's worth his salt, he will tell you to forget it.

Thread: OK... maybe I'm missing something??? | Forum: Carrara
Thanks willf.......
Here's what I did... It probably isn't the right way and it's a pain, but it seemed to work.
C2 is going to render at 72 dpi regardless of what you set it to. So, to get 8x10, I set the dimensions to 576x720 (multiplied dimensions x 72). I set the render to 200 dpi.
When i go into photoshop the image is 1600 x 2000 pixels at 72 dpi. (22.222 x 27.778 inches). In photoshop I set the dpi to 200 and the dimensions to 8x10 inches.
It was simpler in Ray Dream Studio, but no big deal.

Nicholas86 writes.... "ummm the manual? lol"....
cute... most manuals seem to skim over things, and do you already have the manual on this unreleased version? Where do you get it?
There are some Pdf files at their web site that do a fair job.
Thanks

Are these going into some gallery so they can be checked again later, or do we need to download them?Looks really promising, that C2.
