I've run my poser on a 150 mgz 486dx running win 98 and 96 megs of ram. Slower than molasses in january, but it run. If you want all the little quirks of poser go for p5, but if you just want it for creating and exporting to other programs, pro pack is the best. (I run both).

Thread: OT: Need help with choosing a graphics card (and monitor) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I run with an OLD nvidia tnt riva, and it runs all my 3d apps perfectly. But as for games it really limits me. I've used the radeon 9800 and it blew me away with it gaming capabillities, but I've never used it with poser. But if I remember correctly, 3d apps have little to do with the video card as most of the work is put on the prossessor. For the most part, any card that supports z-buffering will run 3d apps fine. (Although if I could get a radeon for that price I'd be in heaven! there about $300-$400 or more here.)

It's not the greatest, but it's free.Thread: Another tip to speed up P5 loading time. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Another option to try is creating an empty folder and add it to the list of runtimes. Then before you close the program, choose this runtime. When poser next starts, it's not searching through all the libraries. (Worked for me anyway)
Thread: Perhapes OT..but I really need some computer help. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Call me nuts, but I live in a 6 suite appartments which causes all sorts of erratic power flutters, so I filtered my power with a 1.5v D cell battery, and .5 farad capacitor stolen from my car stereo. Fixed it up good as new. Btw, I built my computer out of garbage cans, and back ally specials, so I wouldn't reccommend the Red Green fix to anyone. Just shop around, ask questions, and base your judgment on what you think is best.

The red is a refraction effect. It is a lumanent sphere set within a transparent globe. It's designed so that no matter where the camera angle is, it appears a red smoke within the globe. I do plan to make a set for each element, but that won't be for a while yet. The reason that I chose red is based on the circle of power-'Fire beats water beats earth beats fire...', as a subtle point of irony,(fire encased in water)' but I think I'll make mats for each element.

You can try the bvh downloads here, but I think your best bet would be the walk designer, that way you can tweak your characters walk to how you want it.Thread: texturing help | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
First thing you want to do is get Steve cox's UVmapper, its free, or you can buy the pro edition with more features. Either one will allow you to create a uv template on which you can create your texture. (The uv mapper site, if I remember correctly, has tutorials on how to use it.) Once you have you template, you can use it to create anything you can think of. Hope that helps.

Thread: Poser 5 new Installation of Windows | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
was it a windows crash, or is it an update? Generally as a rule of thumb, you don't loose anything on your drive when installing windows execpt the OS files. I have reinstalled my windows 3 times and never had any problems with my poser. In fact I have reinstalled poser5 4 times on my computer, and simply add the old runtime to it. BUT!!!, every pc is different, so copy the contents of the runtime folder, save to cd, then if needed, reload them back into poser, or keep it as a backup runtime.

I already have the morphs for the model shape, all I'm dealing with right now is the texture. I've been toying with the idea of putting in exposed muscles as well as bones and shredded skin.
