Having tried it now with 16gb RAM an unexpected side effect is I can use my computer for other things while rendering which on 8gb was often impossible or very very slow

well ive installed 16gb RAM now not noticed much except available resources stay around 90% . Never had out of memory errors but have had resources drop to 8% once or twice , though the render still finished

mother board had gone so sold off salvagable bits , at least the laptop can come on holiday!

i used to use a desktop pc but it died though orginally built as a high end gaming machine it was good at rendering 2 ,but my laptop would render same scene maybe 75% faster .
unfortunately having a Thai wife who likes to visit her family couple of times a year (we live in England ) cant afford much else at the moment

Ah you are correct what has thrown me as that change was kept even after exiting view and reloading a scene .Until your explanation I didn't know what it was for many thanks for your help

its never asked me that when vue has crashed and ive reloaded at best ill get something along the lines vue didnt exit correctly there is a saved file do you want to recover (sorry forget exact wording) but no option to carry on the render which would be useful resume render is greyed out even though i always turn it on prior to rendering, i have tried stopping a render part way through , i would say 99% of the time vue will crash when i try to stop a render , this is only when I have a full ,scene when just a few parts no problem mainly happens if its populating eco system

All my test renders were deleted when considered a failure best one is in my gallery called wild horse even that was meant to be a small width at the begining but bring the 2 terrains either side in any closer made them touch at points along most of the water more like a line of small puddles!

still have some problems first off I am using poser 2012 fully up to date and DAZ horse 2 works perfect in poser (dont use DAZ studio) if i export as object and then open in vue , having put copies all the content of the DAZ horse 2 materials in to the same folder vue starts to ask for files that arnt in ther eg horse 2 eyelashes trans MH2 any idear where these are?

does that mean using vue 10 is impossible? i tried saving ad obj file when imported into vue it asked about a jpeg file from same location ad obj file but there wasnt one so just haf a black 3d horse any idears? cant afford vue 11 at the moment
