Hi chesney, think your problem is not that big. - *.rds (or 3Ds): Matthias and I for e. need RayDreamStudio for creating all the special 3D-models and meshes, which we use at Poser. The file format is called .rds. -.obj After having finished the mesh or figure at RDS we have to export our RDS-model, because Poser f.e. is not able to import *.rds directly. The -bridge- filetype between RDS and Poser, which can be used in both programs, is called *.obj. A type which can be handled in many (every?) 3D-grafical-programs. Have a look into this ascii-file. It's not to difficult to understand the syntax of this file. Sometimes the programs (RDS) are offering some plugins. One plugin makes it possible to import Poser files directly into RDS. Please check the configuration of your Poser, whether all plugins (importer/exporter) are installed. Often more plugins are required. So we are missing the importer of poser-files into Bryce f.e. So, the only way to connect both programs is: Poser-> *.obj out ---> Bryce *.obj in (... with all the difficulties) Cheers Daniel
Thread: Freshman in Vickie and Mike (3d-daz) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi fellows, thanks for all the good advice! Yesterday we had our first contact with Vickie. Man, now we know, where all these 'Emmas' 'Trudies' 'and so on honeys' are coming from. Just trying to modify the eyebrow is an absolutely hard act (... so much buttons and controls for the head...) Our disappointment: No textures like you promised! At least Matthias, being in a generous mode, ordered the texture from DAZ (... he is the one with the big salary..). I'm not very satisfied with this textures so my question: Are there any more textures outside (perhaps for free). We checked the Free Stuff and are not sure, whether all this textures are compatible to Victoria 2. Greetings to Shadowcat: With your help, we are of the same opinion (now!) and we'll waiting for Mark II... Mike 2.0. Regards to you all Daniel + Matthias (absent, because he is joining a meeting with IBM, this poor one...)

Hi Ken, Daniel and I are totally impressed by your picture. We both are scuba divers and had the absolutely chance to see this whale in the open sea three years ago. Watching this gentle creatures underwater was outstanding. So looking at your well done picture revives these great feelings. Nevertheless we have a question: Did you create this whale as 3D-model? Or is it a photo? We have in mind to make similar pictures. Our scuba divers and equipment are nearly finished. Our intention is to show the relation between 'homo sapiens' and 'just a fish' underwater.... Best regards Daniel + Matthias

Thank you very much, we solved the problem with your help. The magic word is '..Edit->select->by group...' We changed to a different Map style and now textures aren't a problem anymore. Again, UV-Mapper is very useful and a very well done program! A good tool for creating textures. cheers Daniel
Thread: Downloaded items | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Lynny, me as someone who published some models at Free-Stuff, let me explain, what I expect for running my model: - As you can see, there are some folders at the Poser main caled 'Runtime'. There you can find the folders -LIBRARIES- and -GEOMETRIES- - In most of the cases the upload contains - *.cr2 and *.rsr - *.obj - *.jpg or *.bmp (textures) - you have to copy the *.cr2 and *.rsr in one of the folders at LIBRARIES (.. where it makes sense...) - now the tricky point: In the file *.cr2 it is written where the *.obj must(!!!) be transfered. So you have to open this file and look for the path of the *.obj Sometimes an individual folder at GEOMETRIES is needed (.... like WAFFEN for me as a German, who created a pistol...) - So you can create this wanted folder at GEOMETIRES and copy the *.obj into or you like to add this *.obj to your own directory at GEOMETIRES. So you have to open and edit the *.cr2 and change the path I was talking too much, please tell a little bit more detailed what your problem is. f.e. what filetypes are included in your download. Regards Matthias

Thread: import *.obj.. message: ...out of memory | Forum: Bryce
Hi, thanks for helping, but we are sure, there must be another problem. - My machine is an Intel PIII Dual-Processor, SCSI and Windows 98, 256 MB RAM, No need for more, cause Windows 98 cannot manage more than 256 MB (128???) - Daniels PC is also Intel P4, single-Processor and Windows2000 installed, 512 MB - Matrox G450, Dualhead, 32 MB RAM You are totally in the right. We also watched the progress of this progress-bar yesterday (what a mess! Nearly 90 % done...). So we could figure out the limit of nearly 22MB. So the difference between your results (40-100 MB) and ours is rather big. We have bought just one version of Bryce and perhaps we'll install this version under Windows 2000 with the more RAM for try it and verify your advice. Thanks again Matthias + Daniel
Thread: Small "splash" effects around items in the water | Forum: Bryce
Just for our understanding (we are a little bit new in this topic, got our Bryce 4 three weeks ago): - first you create a 2D image with water-swirls/turbulences in any painting program (like photoshop) - Then import this image into Bryce as texturemap - Bryce is transforming this texture into a 3D-surface??? Please tell us, how to convert an image to a texturemap or get this result, which is shown above. We for ourself, had choosen a (perhaps very cryptical) way to creat waves in a rough sea: In RDS we build our sea, based on a flat surface with 50 facets in x and y. We did the modelling and at the end we got our rough sea as *.obj and imported it into Bryce. Greetings Matthias + Daniel

Hi Jeff, hi Ming, thanks for supporting. I made some downloads for my own to test our version on different PCs and it works fine. I'm glad Ming that you now get it work. Perhaps for the next time we are going to choose another more international folder as 'Zubehoer' (... it's the German translation for 'tools', seil-lang means rope-long, cause we also created a short version). Before we are going to upload one of our works, Daniel and I decide very criticaly about the 'do it or do it not'. It would be a little shame for us, if our upload is filled with too many bugs. Greetings to you and your very fine and qualified administration, Jeff. Daniel and I learned much.
Thread: Exporting to OBJ and having hidden object | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
We also imported our figures into Bryce yesterday. We got troubles, because this *.obj was too big. We had to reduce in size this file. Think this is nearly the same basis. We did - Choose -> export Wavefront *.obj - the 'hier-listbox' (sorry have no translation for it) is coming up - choose the items you want by clicking the comboboxes - ..... follow through the next frames... - in the last frame before the export is getting started: We didn't choose any items there Greetings Matthias

Hy bloodsong, sorry for being misunderstood! I mean typing the value in Poser -> joint parameters -> center. So I can insert the value in these inputfields (by using a '.' instead of ',') and after insertng the values it doesen't change to zero. So, there is no need to edit the *.cr2 (which needs a little bit experience in doing this...) Greetings Matthias

It's so silly!!!!! we know where the mistake is coming from: We, as European are using a comma instead of dot for writing a decimal value! Now it's clear, why you never got this mistake! F.e. just type -0.043 instead of -0,043 In our case it's working now! We are going to send this message to all the other fellows in the 'outlands' Greetings Matthias

No Sirs! I'm using Win98 and have the same problem! I have installed a German Version and the update 4.03. It's strange! But we are now three or for 'foreigns' with the same poser-problem. May be a special Poser 1th.of May virus? I also introduce this problem to CL, meanwhile I'm editing the *.cr2. This helps! Greetings Daniel
