Quote - lose norton ASAP, 1358. it was a problem for OS 9 users, and since nobody has seen any OS 9 spyware nor r.a.t.s for 6 or 7 years now, and since script kiddies only do port scans for open ME and XP machines, you don't need it. if you've got a router with an hardware firewall, that's more than enuff IMVHO.
Â
He should be great even with just a plain routeras it by itself essentially is a firewall)Â . But most pros recommend a hardware router/firewall AND a software firewall. The best being Zone Alarm Pro. Mainly because A hardware/firewall router only keeps things from coming in. But it cant stop a program from wanting to call home. Where as Zone Alarm can do exactly that. as well as be a backup for blocking incoming requests
Yeah Macs get hit by viruses all be it rare.

By the way. Its normal for your router to fail now an then(logjam). All thats usually required is for you to hold the reset button for several seconds and your good. Also your PC isnt supposed to recognize your router(and it won't). Well okay it'll recognize the IP but thats not your router tyhats all setup on your PC first..  But it does need to recognize your NIC(ethernet card). Reinstalling drivers for the NIC should have resolved that. But hey, now yu can start again with a brand new fresh drive.

Its incredible "Easy " to "virus up" a mac too. You just don't see it as often cuz microsoft is the big dog so people attack it

Quote - Have you tried this link yet? http://www.cakeone.com there is a photoshop tutorial to make a texture from your own photographs. There another one in a Poserpro forum: Helen realistic texturing help, you have to do some digging to find it there, but it's a great resource for making textures.

"hack" job of rewriting the referance manual by a technical writer with no apparent experience of using the actual product in question.."
Well like I was trying to say. There always very much the same. Poser 4's book was identical to Poser 3's book etc. Thats because you cannot just come out with any tutorial or "inside" book. You first must be granted liscence and then you are "given" the material that you are alllowed to work with. Thats usually how it works. With some variation here and there. Thats why when you look at different how to books, you will see thje same tutorials. Perhaps worded differently. But the screen grabs will be the same. The thing about all these how to books, they don't give away locations of 100 Percent of the tools even though they may rtefer to them in a tutorial. However, if you can't find a tool its very easy to go online and ask someone. I figure that perhaps the software companies know that people may try to use these books as though they were a manual and they are okay with it. Charge a ridiculous $45 for a book and at least they get some money from a warez user.

Yeah but the lighting system is as simple aas anything. Even Truespaces is superior. I'm not refering to the quality of the lighting. I'm refering to the actual tools and how you can handle them. Posers is amatuerishily designed. Thats all I mean. Rather than taking a que of the most common ways to design a light tool set. AS found in MAX, Truespace, Lightwave and countless others. The Author desided to make up his own. And that has prven to be a very bad idea
Thread: Interface Q | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah the scroll thing is a pain in the butt. I also hate that for example I get to specific file I want to open. I click on it and then I see the various choices to choose from. Like the full body morphs. Then lets say I change my mind. What happens? Your sent straight back to the top of the list rather than where yo7u left off. Its true Poser's interface is complete crap. And yet for some unknown ridiculous reason I like it. I guess because of the easy access to figures. Its light tool set is crap too. Its ways to zoom in out of views is also crappy. I just don't understand why these issues have been the same since the first release and still they choose to keep them. If it wee me I'd complete get rid of the Figures/poses/lights etc menu on the right. Just toss it out. There is no need for it

Thats the problem with ALL how to books for ANY software. They ALL cover the same how to instruction set as authorized by the software developer. Rare is it that they show you something new. Pete
Thread: 3DCG contest | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Im not bashing Poser. I like it. Oh and yeah it must be the Miss Digital World contest Im thinking of. So then the Mis 3DCG contest is in the context of Poser. That I wouldn't have a problem with. USing Poser as a posing tool or renderer is not a big deal either. But to submit a factory poser model with factory morphs or even home made morphs to me will never qualify it for that lame Miss Digital World contest. I mean if you submit a Poser factory model with Factory morphs in a contest. You hardly put the same effort in as the guy who built from scratch. But again if its a contest in the context of Poser. Then thats different. Hey Im no Hypocrite. Im not a good modeler. and yeah I didnt model the camaro. And I believe I stated that the Hanger wasn't even finsished and that the lights were just temporary. Although the texturing worked out nicely in the hanger. But I didn't "create" those either. Thanks to Deep Paint. I never did finsh it. I am however, currently trying to model the MACH 5 in MAX. I have an idea of where to begin but I tend to hit walls and I don't stay with it long enough. And I too have seen some great poser pics modeled or not. But I still think if you didnt model it. Its not worthy of a contest.
Thread: Unwritten Rule surfacing: The Naked Lady Rule | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, its not exactly hard to figure out why there are tones of nudes on this site. Most computer users are male. Most web surfers are male as well. BTW, per a recent survey, women visit and pay for porn sites more than men. When I lived in germany I was 5 years old. I remember whatchiung a childrens program that had a scene of a totally nude mon breast feeding her baby. I like living in the country I was born in but I have to say that this country is very much the prude by comaprision. pjanak

Thread: Poser used on the History Channel | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just today I saw Poser used in a Television Show. Damn escapes ne now. Whats that Twilight Zone like show? The one where they say "do not adjust your TV set, We are in full control of the vertical and horizontal" Or something like that. It definatley was Dork but it could have been Poser or and exported model used in MAX or similar. Either way the animation was really very awful. BTW, MAxim, or maybe its Stuff magazine uses Poser extensively. Pete
