Thread: BodyStudio for Max hair beta 9j ... Well done Reiss Studio | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
lol, none taken. But it didn't look any better in Poser5 either. Partly the hair width. Partly the number of strands. Partly the fact that the skull cap for that hair piece doesn't fit the models head (hence the hair plug look to the forehead). It was just a quickie. The entire point is that p5 dynamic hair, with textures, is now working in Max.

Hi Aleks. Not sure what you were asking about regarding the shadows...The lighting in this pick is one of the DAZ complex global lighting sets, using raytraced lights in max. But here is a larger pic. In this beta they have added some parameters to adjust the hair thickness a bit, as I understand it. I haven't tried that yet, but if I understand correctly I could make the hair a bit thicker with just a few parameter tweaks. I may have to try that next.
Thread: Is PoserStyle worth it??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I finally talked myself into a subscription yesterday. There is definitely more than $30 worth of archived content on there right now, so that by itself makes the membership fee worth it. IMO. I think the real question should be whether or not it will be worth renewing the membership once it expires.

Interesting. I would think you should be able to copy the text from the source view. But then again, I've never used Earthlink or their tools. I did a quick net and newsgroup scan for anything similar with Earthlink, but couldn't find anything of help. I do know in Outlook and Outlook Express there is an option that can be configured to automatically remove anything it considers to be an "unsafe" attachment (which seems to be everything it sees). Does TotalAccess have something similar? It may be a feature similar to this that is preventing you from accessing the file. It may also be a result of any built-in spam blocking features, which can get carried away sometimes.

This probably depends on what email program you are using. The text you are describing is probably in an XML format. If your email reader does not recognize XML as an attachment, you may have problems. You should be able to copy the XML text from your email into a flat text file and use it to register the program. If that doesn't work, send an email to support@reiss-studio.com. I have found them to be very responsive so far.
Thread: body studio 2.0 and 3ds max 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That is because the hair portion isn't finished yet. It can be imported into 3DS Max okay, it just isn't textured yet. There is a thread on the 3DS Max forum that offers a possible workaround for the texturing issues inside 3DS Max itself, though.
Thread: Question on Lighting: Poser 5 vs. 3DS Max import from BodyStudio 2.0 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
sigh, I seem to reply to my own threads a lot :( Anyway, now I can not get the lighting intensity to match that in poser anymore (just that one time - and I'm beginning to wonder if I accidentally didn't import the lights that one time - the default Max lighting is very similar in level to that from the SciTech set in Poser, it seems). Now matching the scene scaling between the two areas has no impact, and the lights are bright again. Report sent to support. Thanks.
Thread: Question on Lighting: Poser 5 vs. 3DS Max import from BodyStudio 2.0 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
BTW, I just found what caused the lighting difference. When I imported the scene into Max, I chose the keyboard entry option with point of origin at 0 0 0 and Scene Scaling (under Keyboard Entry) set to Real Life. But under the Scene Options I had Scene Scaling set to manual at 0'0.0" (which appears to come up as the default for me). That is what caused the brightness. When I changed the Scene Scaling under Scene Options to Real Life to match the setting under Keyboard Entry, the lighting matched that from Poser. So this probably falls under the category of user error.
Thread: Question on Lighting: Poser 5 vs. 3DS Max import from BodyStudio 2.0 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks Josh, I'll send an email to support this evening. EsnRedshirt, the Firefly renderer comes out about the same as the P4 renderer in overall light intensity. graphicnovel, yes I can adjust and or create the lighting within 3DS Max, but unfortunately light setup is one item (of several) which I just have never got the hang of. If I can import a good existing light set from Poser, that makes things a lot easier.

Yes, I am using it and so far I love it. Except for some very minor puzzlement I currently have regarding the imported light intensity, everything works like a charm.
Thread: Anyone been able to authorize Body Studio yet? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ah, I was going to say I didn't have any problems registering, but it looks like you have figured out what the problem was afterall, fauve. Hey Josh, if you check this thread again, just an FYI that the .pdf file still has the text for Maya, rather than 3DS Max, on the Scale Options page.

Hmm, looks like you can get that same 1 year license for MotionBuilder for $100 from the Kaydara website. Since it looks like their regular price is just under $5K, that seems like a good deal (if you can get past the idea that you can't use it anymore after the year is up). And I just looked at the website for Endorphin. Wow, that looks nice. Of course, since they don't list a price on the webpage I assume it is in the "If you have to ask you can't afford it" range. But it still looks like an interesting product.
