Wow mickmca, that's quite a review of problems there. Are you using the Mac or Windows version? If windows then is it XP Pro? Also, are you using the latest Poser 7 Service release (patch-update) 1.1 that is supposed to fix some problems?
I'm wondering if those problems exist even with the patch and under Windows XP Pro.
I also noticed that the hardware requirement went up with version 7. What kind of processor is your PC (Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon?) and how much ram does it have. And what kind of video card are you using?
Thread: Is Poser 7 Worth The Upgrade From Poser 6? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks Pjz99 for the info.
Apparently it was too early in the morning when I wrote the note because I said Vue 7 but the latest release is only version 6. I downloaded the latest Vue update last night, Version 6.05 - Build 290396 (beta). It fixed a lot of Poser import problems I was having. So I was thinking of upgrading Poser as well to version 7. Guess I'm thinking too much about the Poser 7 upgrade now. All these products with their updates is a luney thing to keep up with at times.

Thread: Newbie Q: Which software to NOT duplicate efforts? | Forum: 3D Modeling
Here is my penny of info on this.
You may also want to check out the availability of training materials on the product you choose. I have noticed tons of training videos, books, etc. for products like 3ds max. I purchased Cinema 4D R10 a few months back because I wanted to do more than just assemble prebuilt primatives like those in Vue. But before I bought Cinema 4D I was also thinking of 3ds Max. I only chose Cinema 4D because the demo seemed easy in creating things with primatives and some splines. I did not know much and so that is what I played with in the demo. Who the hell new to 3d is going to know the most important things to check out in a demo? I checked out the primatives because that is what I played with when I worked with Vue. I thought Cinema 4D had all I needed and it would be more straight forward than 3D Max.
After a few months it turned out to be pretty good in making man made things like machines, weapons, equipment, buildings, etc. When I was done playing with that, I then wanted to explore making non man made things like humans, animals, creatures, etc. However, in my opinion, it would appear that C4D is not strong in modeling these kinds of things, although it can be done.
I have found very few training materials on how it is done with C4D compared to other larger products like 3D max. If I had to do it all over again I think I would have preferred to of bought 3D Max and bite the bullet on the learning curve. This I say because either way, your going to have to do a lot of reading, experimenting, etc. even with C4D. C4D is easy? Puft! I have a few hundred hours into that product and there is still a lot to it. So might as well of jumped into Max I think.
At least if i had chosen 3D Max, I would of had a product that would of been equipped to fully to handle not just man made structures (buildings, tools, weapons, etc.) but woud have also had a tool that was equipped fully to handle character modeling like animals, people, monsters, etc. and yet still have a huge selection of training materials and local classes to take with the tool to help me through it.
If you'v got the money then I'd say go 3D Max. I had the money and feel I went the wrong way. I spent $2,600 on C4D and its plugins and another $300 on books and online video subscriptions .... argh! I should of gone 3D Max for that money. And you know what? You will still end up spending money on other things later probably like more plug-ins, textures, etc...its a pricey activity. But as is commonly said here, that is only my opinion.
By the way, I also don't like the landscape environment capability with Cinema 4D. Vue Infinite blows it out of the water. Vue Infinite is not just a renderer but excellent for creating worlds of plant life, mountains, grass, etc. to make a world for you to import your 3D creations into. I'm only adding this last part because of a Vue statement I saw earlier. I still say I should have gone 3D Max over C4D.
Oh and one last thing...here I go again. ALL these products HAVE PROBLEMS. None of them are perfect. Just look at the threads. Someone is always having one problem or another, even with 3DMax. I'm only saying this so you can expect it. Thats technology for you. We just have to get around the problems, as many do.

Very nice. So did you first create the character in Zbrush then take it to Light wave? Or the other way around?

I was thinking of picking up the following books for general 3D modeling information on people and animals. What do you think:
Perhaps you can recommend some others that may be useful.
Thread: Looking For Suggested Easiest Tool To Model Creatures | Forum: 3D Modeling
Thanks Hoofdcommissaris. I forgot to mention that whatever the tool may be it must export the creature in a format I can import into Vue Infinite. The three 3d formats I've found to work well for me in Vue Infinite for importing objects from other applications are as follows:
.psz3 (Poser)
.dxf
.obj
There are other import formats Vue accepts but I have not tried them like from Lightwave and 3Ds Max. Vue is the final destination in many of my 3d projects where I import Poser characters, prop objects from vendors, or personally created items in Cinema 4D such as props like furnture, equipment, etc. If I do use another tool to create creatures then I need to be able to import the output into Vue for the final scene or into Cinema 4D (which takes .obj) where maybe it needs some adjustment.

Thread: How to Produce Vivid Renders ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The attached picture I put here contains Victoria 3 for both the faery and lady as well as DAZ costumes. I used Poser to pose them, then imported into Vue 6 Infinite for the final scene setup and render.

**Sorry to hear you felt you had to pull your gallery. You may want to take a peek over at
I recently paid a membership for that digital art site and have not noticed them to have the same problems with image content as there is at Renderosity. Actually, the whole site there appears to simply be different that you may find appealing. Maybe its because you have to pay to be a member, who knows.
I don't know yet how abundant their marketplace is. I have found Renderosity to be a great place for shopping those odds and ends I need to complete some of my scenes.

An interesting question drifterlee. I'm sure there are various opinions as there are various levels of violence. Which is more violent, a picture of someone plunging a sword into the chest of a living thing or a picture of a dead thing next to someone who slayed them? I would think the first case to be more violent. However, if in the second case the deceased victom was depicted in a gross decapitated manner such that their condition was gruesome, like a chopped off head with oozing blood all over the place and veins dripping it out (eww), then I would consider that to be overly detailed violence for some. Perhaps if we could see what the entertainment industry defines as rated PG, PG13, and R then we would have something to measure by.
Thread: MS Vista will not fully support OpenGl in Poser or any 3-D application. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've been using XP 64 for about a year with an Nvidea Quadro 3450 which is Open GL. Works good. Already running the 64 bit version of Vue on it, although Vue 6 is still only pre-release. Also using the 64 bit version of Cinema 4D R10, but sadly that product has an export problem for now so I have to use the 32 bit version for exports. Poser 6 is also running ok under it.
Vista is definitely something to wait a while for, just do a google search on it and problems on the screen fill up fast. There are several versions of Vista, each with their own price. Go to www.windowsvista.com and you will find a lot of information from Microsoft about its features, editions, etc. But don't go for the hype yet, Microsoft always makes things look better than they really are, espeically on new things. Waiting for SP 1 or 2 sounds like a prudent move.
