Well, in the beginning I bought things I could learn from. Sometimes it was a question of having a practical example of a texture, sometimes it was geometry... Then there was also a laziness. When an item was sold for a really low price, and it would take me half a day or longer to create it, then, knowing my days are filled to the brim (one third sleep, one third daydreaming, one third planning for things that never come), why not buy it? A third reason was that sometimes an item or character was so intriguing that I really wanted it. Like a book. Or a CD. Or some new oil colour. Some characters are really unvickied (I invented a verb!) by their creators, and I just love that. A fourth reason was, and this applies to the Daz characters, that I am not afraid of modelling a character, but that the rigging and morphing that come afterwards are like climbing mount Everest when you, happy you, have made it to the base-camp. This said, I feel saturated now. Besides, it's me girlfriend who occupies herself of "the digital department" right now. She'll outperform me before the end of the year. And I love that.

If my memory (and documentation) serve me well, thet the Haunted Mansion was once a PC club item? Now, only some textures are in the pc. My experience with Turkish and North-African bazaars helps me to keep my eyes open. Anyways: this is a great offer. Saves me becoming a member for one month.

Guess it was God's will. Stop posting pagan, skiffy, nudity, violence, gothic etc and this will happen no more. Either that, or else a new TOS (Temporary Out of Service) ;)

Be VERY careful when you visit the Body Topology thread over at CGTalk maya forum as pages 5 and 6 (I went to 25 out of88!) contains a trojan called downloader.BES (appeared first March 16th). I guess I fould where it came from, but don't visit without an updated good quality virus scanner!Message edited on: 03/24/2005 13:20

Although I don't have Poser 6 yet, I can, and do agree with Opera here on the problems with V3 and other unimesh characters. You need a good knowledge of anatomy, and more in particular the hyper-complex shoulder-girdle (attached to the body with one! joint where the claviculi meet the breastbone under the neck, and apart from that all muscles) to get a decent looking shoulder.
This is not a real critique of Daz' work though because they were limited to a method of creating joints that is outdated. The main problem is that a new method cannot be implemented without causing the old meshes, which means all that was ever created, become useless.
On the other hand: it is a bit sad to have to read that the new Poser characters do have a lot of problems from the very first start. Over at RDNA I saw images of the feet, the ankles, the hands, and I cannot understand how these were not seen before the new app. was made public. These are no "bugs" in coding, but simple lack of insight in character building. And that is a real pity, even more as it comes from a company that has been under fire for years for P5 and its "hiccups".

Indeed, CD and DVDrot is a serious problem. Unfortunatley, cheaper cd's and dvd's suffer more and after less than 5 years, some can already be unusuable. So buy the best brand you can afford and, if you can, get an external hdd that you only connect to put your software and valuable data on.

At least there should be an option to ask questions on what can, and what can't. example: http://market.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=35726&ViewImage=2#Image This is Thorne's Perelandra (no crits meant on Thorne and/or sarsa!!!). The V3 body looks over eighteen (understatement), but the head is clearly an adolescent. Will an image of a nude Perelandra V3 be deleted or not?

Cinema 4D with Kuroyume's plugin. No problems at all. There is also Riptide to import obj files, and it's free. Bodystudio works but is way too expensive for what it offers.

Here also. I even had images in galleries that weren't there anymore, but when later on I visited again, they were there again. There's one page that is pretty quick though: the front page of the market place.

Don't forget that together with OGL you also get the problems with different setups, different drivers and different cards. It can be a step ahead in workflow as you get faster screen redraw (that's what it does: faster sr and some options to see textures etc) but when something goes wrong, it can be the cause of freezes that can only be solved by a forced shut down. Or disappearing cursors ("smart" screen redraw etc). OGL "works" with our gamer's cards, but to have it really like it should, you need a quite expensive card. Also: coding OGL is very difficult as there are lots of variables. And last but not least: Apple still has not provided good drivers for the G5's gamers level cards. Many users of "high-end" 3D applications complain about that. Perhaps this sounds quite negative, but OGL can be the cause of much frustration.
