tjohn and orbital .... Ya know, I really hate it when I open my mouth and insert my foot into it. You would think that by now, I would have grown tired of the taste of toenails! :) I have always considered Bryce a 'limited modeler' but obviously it is not that at all. thanks, BabaLouie
Thread: Been thinking about getting Bryce | Forum: Bryce
The modeling capabilities of Bryce is limited, now that i have said that I am certain that I will get shot down :), but it is excellent for landscapes, simple modeling, importing poser people and other items. Many of us bought Bryce at the original price, I believe it is now around $US 79.00, an absolute bargain. If you have the money get Bryce and then use it as a learning tool, you will probably find out that you will wind up using it on a daily basis. :) You can use Poser for people and creatures and there are other apps designed as modelers, C4D, Amapi, and Wings3d are just a few. Wings is a free download and there is a forum here for it. It would be a good place to start and the price can not be beat. BabaLouie

Yea verily, what erosiaart has said is true and is written in the book of Apple. It is written that the one known as Steve will be victor over the dark one, and the dark one will be made to sit in a darken room and write code for the new Mac's. And in that day the world will be as bright and beautiful as a ripen Apple. So be it ! he he :) BabaLouie

Thanks Syncopate, I must admit that for a number of years I was bias against the Mac, but one day I started thinking about how narrow minded that was of me, especially since I had never used one and could only base my bias on ignorance. Sooo I used one that belonged to a friend, was impressed, went to an Apple Store and was completely sold on the Mac. Hurry up Q104! :-) BabaLouie

Did I mention that I am getting a G5 in the first quarter of 2004. After 2 hours in the Apple Store, the clear winner is the G5. Have a nice holiday... BabaLouie

As a PC user with 2 dual Intel systems and a uni proc system I have this to save about this whole PC versus Mac business .... For the PC people their final and last ditch argument concerning this matter is always about money and how much more buying power you get with a PC purchase or home build than what you get with a Mac. It is unfortunant that the PC computing experience boils down to money, but it ultimately does for most people. If you have a friend that denies that then ask them why they bought a PC instead of a Mac. They can not say software titles because that is no longer the case. Now the Mac user is not so concerned about the 'bottom line' as they are about the 'feel' and use of their computer. The computing experience is what counts, I have used a Mac before and there is no way that a PC can come close to the excellence and overall superior feel of the Mac. Period. PC users should not even try to debate this point. As far as benchmarks, well, any company can make any of the numbers appear the way they want them to. It is called marketing and the manufactures will try to make you believe what THEY want you to believe. Of course most folks read on the 7th grade level so this in not very hard for the manufacturers to accomplish. In 20 or so years of computing I have known more pissed off and unhappy PC users than I have known pissed off and unhappy Apple / Mac users, but then I suppose that is what buying power gets the PC user. My apologies if anyone has been offended by my views .. :) BabaLouie

I need to slow down and start thinking again, somehow I missed the package that neftis has and completely forgot about Zeta Studios, which the last time I was on was sort of confusing for my addled mind. :) Thanks to all for great suggestions. BabaLouie
Thread: OT?- may get killed for this..but terragen? | Forum: Bryce
Erosiaart .. I spend most of my time in the Terragen forum, many of us use Bryce and other programs as well. On the whole they are a friendly and civil bunch. :) You are certaintly welcome to visit and ask as many questions as you like. Even though Terragen is not as full featured as Bryce, it is a fantastic program that is fun to use and produces some very realistic images. It is in constant development and will continue to improve over time and become more feature laden. take care, BabaLouie

Drac, That is exactly what I use my host file for, but most folks are not aware that they can block a load of web ads that way. This is what it does, the IP 127.0.0.1 address points to your local computer, you are telling it that all these ad servers are on your computer. Now, whenever your browser tries to retrieve an ad from an ad server, it will look on your own machine and will fail. This also will also keep these servers from placing cookies on your PC. Below is an example of what would be added to the host file 127.0.0.1 ad.ca.doubleclick.net 127.0.0.1 ad.de.doubleclick.net 127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net For those who may have an interest and are using IE and would like to block port sites or other sites via a simple reg hack the below link goes to a freebie reg hack called IE-SPYAD. http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/resource.htm If anyone needs, I can email a zip file of the reg hack and the ad blocker to them. As a matter of interest, I would like to know what Striving found amiss on his system. In retrospect, I could have done a better job of explaining the above to Striving in my previous post. BabaLouie

I seriously would not do this.... however, it seems that you may be infected with a virus or trojan. Svchost is used by the os for various reasons, if you look at processes under Task Manager you will often see several occurances of it running, though I must admit I know of no good reason for svchost.exe to be in the registery key mentioned. The host file mentioned generally only has that one line in it, however, I do add additional addresses to block specific site activities. It can not hurt to delete everything else below the above mentioned address. You will find some other lines in there that have been commented out with the #, it is ok to leave those there. I would not recommend this simply because it is advice from a site that does not sell AV / Firewall software. Go to Norton, I believe you can get a free scan there if in the event that you do not have any AV software. I would scan you drives very thoroughly with an AV product of your choice. If you are not using a firewall I would get one as soon as possible. For what it is worth, I have been getting an average of 6 emails a day that are infected and I get about 9 or 10 intrusion attempts a week. It is a dangerous internet world out there, and even if you are NOT on broadband, you really should be using a firewall. I use both a software firewall and antivirus program ( Norton ) and I have not been comprimised yet. Knock on Wood ! :) BabaLouie
Thread: Verdant and Aurora 2 | Forum: Photoshop
Thanks SWAMP, I tried the demo for both of these programs and have the same opinion about them. I just needed input from other users as it is always wise to do so. I have Bryce 5 and love it. I was looking for a tool to add foilage into Terragen images and other images as well. As Terragen will not import this type of image I will have to rely on plugins. The search continues. :) thanks, BabaLouie
