Quote - Actually you should try living with threads floating to the top - you may find it's actually a better system once you have got used to it. For a start, it's much easier to keep a discussion going. On the old forum, after two days any thread was DEAD. Now threads that were started over a week ago are still active.
Sometimes, that's a good thing. It depends what people come here for. If it's for socializing and chat, active threads on top is the way to go. If it's for information, chronological is better. When there's a chatty post with hundreds of responses, only a real diehard is going to read every single post, along with the various drifts in subject and leaps to other thoughts. Those are the kinds of subject shifts that are often best served as new topics. Sorting by date tends to force new topics to be new threads or they just die out as part of an old thread. I'm not arguing one being better over another, just that they serve different purposes for different people.
I mostly wish that the sort I want will stay the way I want and I'm mildly annoyed that the default sort is no longer the one that this site used to have.

Thanks.
Now, if only it will stay sorted by date so that I don't have to keep clicking it.every time I return to the forums.
Thread: Changing searches to be by date and not Relevancy | Forum: Community Center
I'm even more annoyed that the posts are now sorted by reply date than by creation date. It's bad enough that read messages don't change color, but now it's too much trouble to even find all the new messages because of all the older messages getting mixed in.
Was this forum broken enough that all these changes had to be made?
I've posted a new thread in the community forum to address the issue, but I'm really getting tied of changes being made for the sake of changing things when this was a pretty good forum before the changes.
Thread: Poser forget the folder or maps sometimes??!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The pz3 file only points to geometry and textures and does not include them. If the people you gave the file to don't have the original files or have them in different locations, Poser will choke till you point the program to the directory it needs. If all the files, on the different computers, are in the same locations (drive, Poser directory, etc.), things should work okay.

I got in today, too. When I made my first post, typing in the address redirected me to TheForce with no links to get back to the 3D site that I could find. I'm glad they've got their own page back.
Thread: "don't perform commercial use" in a bat lab file | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"No commercial render items" would at least be more clearcut. A lot of freebie posters put "no commercial use" meaning "don't sell it", while others intend for it to include renders such that they're saying "don't profit by it." When the copyright owner can be contacted, those confusions can get sorted out. A lot of the time, the creator cannot be reached--the creator has dropped out of Poser use, changed email addresses, ISP disappeared, or something else makes it impossible to ask. More frustrating are the files that don't have a readme, so it's not even possible to contact the person that created it.

I'm rather surprised at some of the overall violations of the base rule: "For actresses to be included on this page, they must have a history of distinguished or notably commercial appearances in cinema." Sarah Michelle Geller has been in a few mildly successful B-movies, but is far more famous for her Buffy TV work. There are a number of other not very famous actresses on the list: Catherine McCormack Isabelle Adjani (more famous in France) Claudia Cardinale (more famous in Italy and as Andy Williams' wife) Madeleine Carroll (the photo at the link reminds me of Jean Harlow, who remains better known today) Teresa Wright (I didn't recognize the name, but she's at least been in some famous movies) Sadie Frost

Borders has moved a lot of the 3D art mags to the Art section for magazines instead of with computers. I did find issue 2 there, but it didn't have much of interest on the disk.
Thread: Why don't we have more clothings for P4 woman anymore! :c((( | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Another method to gauge character usage is to look at the Poser gallery here. You'll have to dig through quite a ways back in time to find much usage of the P4 Female. If you're absolutely convinced that P4 clothing will sell well, hire a clothing maker to create an item and grant you full rights to sell it. A lot of content creators have tried to sell stuff for less popular figures and know full well what it means in sales.

What URL are you using? http://www.scifi3d.com still times out on me with an HTTP 500 error. The older URL I used, to get to the What's New page at scifi3d, now gets redirected to The Force site that I linked above and I can't find a way to get back to the original link.
