If you can't find one you might try downloading the freeware program Wings3D. It would allow you to easily model a fez. For an even better fit you could: 1. export just the head of your poser figure as an .obj. 2. import the .obj head into Wings. 3. Model the fex to fit the head exactly. 4. export the fez as .obj. A trifle more work than just finding one but a worthwhile exercise in modeling. I did a helmet for Michael in a similar fashion.
Thread: "Standing Guard" texture - for bhubenig (and anyone else) - 441kb | Forum: Bryce
Hey, just because the example is right here..I know it is probably simple but, how do I get two channels to work for one attribute? Like you did for Bump height in the screen shot above? Clicking one turns off the other for me...I've tried shift clicking, alt clicking, nothing...

So would that mean that if you were to give someone 3 points...in this case Catlin_mc...AND that render was pure Bryce...they would get 4 points? LOL, just going from this months challenge I think we'd need a pretty tight definition on just what was meant by "pure" Bryce.

Hmmm...one or two VC names come to mind who might want to play in that type of venture. Dunno if you're interested in that, Doc...but it would at least be worth a phone call or two.

Drac, if nothing else your challenge topic has certainly stirred some emotions!!! As to being "immensly pleased"...you've every right to be. My image received four points last month and I was excited that I had gotten any at all!! I liked the fact that this challenge was Bryce only and that no post work was allowed. I have been playing around in Bryce since Bryce2. It's only been within the last 6 or 8 months that I have had poser so I tend to add people to a lot of things now...it's new. That being said, I have learned more about Bryce in the last few months of being involved here than I had learned in all of the preceding years combined. The truth of the matter is that without this forum I could not have created my entry this month. I learned from texture tutorials by Roobol and Agent Smith. I used a 2d image from DoubleCrash's gallery. I have been pushed to try new things just by looking through the galleries of the likes of FW Tempest, Ornlu, tjohn, Agent Smith and ICM Graphics...to name but a few. The monthly challenge typically pushes me to try something more ambitious than the norm, not less...and this one pushed me quite a bit. I thought the limitations were good, I thought the explanation was sufficient and I thought the interpretations were varied enough to make it interesting. I'm sorry if there are some who feel that the efforts put forth this month were somehow less creative. But for me, this challenge allowed me to add some new tools to my quiver and, I hope, raised the level of what I can do going forward. Sorry for rambling...again....

Venture guys typically won't make a play on a product as much as they will on the leadership of an organization. In this case you'd have to find a VC interested enough to work on doing the buyout from Corel...in order to interest them enough to make that play you'd probably have to show a core group of folks who would run the company after you bought the product. With that core in place it wouldn't be too hard to show a ready user base so the trick would be to find a VC who was cowboy enough to help make the Corel play. If one of the guys mentioned above by AS were interested for example...that might be enough to perk the ears of a VC.

Adobe would be a closer fit simply due to the fact that more people use PS in post production...or seem to anyway. But Adobe is also going into more of an office application direction and high end artist direction. AS, good call on the cost of the original investment...I was thinking more from a day to day operations standpoint. It kinda depends on how they booked the original purchase, they may have already written it all off as loss. I'm thinking a good fit might be someone more geared toward educational based software. I seem to hear a good deal about school licenses of Bryce.

I go back to what I said on the other most recent Bryce update posting: It doesn't fit with what Corel wants to do. Having said that... I think it could be a really cool thing to find a buyer. If anyone has any connection with someone in another company for whom Bryce would be a better fit we should work that angle. PARTICULARLY because if we could pull that off, the new company would have a GREAT marketing campaign right out of the gate..."We bought the product from Corel because the user community asked us to" The trick would probably be that right now Bryce doesn't cost Corel anything...or next to nothing, since there is no work happening on the product. That would mean a potential buyer might have to offer some co-marketing insentives or preferred partneship arrangements...sorry, software development and product marketing have been my gig for too long now. I'll hush. But I really think it could work...

It's all about the transparency map, It looks like you have one applied to the hair in your first pic there. Look under Render ---> Materials to get an idea on the settings. You'll have to load the trans map for the eyebrows sperately though. The same transmap will fix your eyelashes too!!
Thread: Thoughts on the challenge and on "accusations" | Forum: Bryce
No,no..I think you took me wrong. What I was trying to say was that I thought there was nothing wrong with your earlier comments. I wasn't offended at all...I suppose I should have written this in reply to electroglyphs post rather than as a new thread. And yes, I did see your further post, thank you.
Thread: Something about lighting / render times | Forum: Bryce
Cool pic!! I noticed that atmosphere settings effect render times too. The pic I am working on gave me anything from 20 hours to 8 days as an estimate for render time. I set the mist to 0 rather than where it had been at 70 and the time went down to 2 hours. Removing one complex figure dropped it even further to 20 minutes.
Thread: Do your Challenge Voting for February in Here!!!!!!!!! | Forum: Bryce
Ok, this was tough...there were so many really great images to choose from that I had to keep going back to the challenge definition to help me stay on track. 3 - electroglyph, I love the metaphore in this one 2 - blue ardor, A different take on it that still shows off what Bryce can do. 1- nuski, Glad you put this back in the challenge. For those who think I may have violated the rules I assure you my pic was 100% Bryce. The controversy seems to be around the man which was a 2d pic. In my mind that constitutes a texture which I thought was fair game. In any event thanks to all entrants for some fantastic and inspiring pics!!

Thread: getting a bad feeling from Corel... | Forum: Bryce
I don't think you're too far off really...based on the turn Corel seems to be taking, Bryce really doesn't fit into their sweet spot AND it would make sense to sell off that business unit in order to bolster the others. I don't know if JASC is the buyer...but I don't think it is all that far fetched to see them be willing to sell it.
