I have problems with huffy on my system; not sure exactly why, it just doesn't like me. I'll try to lagarith, though. When i mentioned indeo 5.x, i was being pretty serious; I've taken 1024x768 video uncompressed and the indeo'd (at 100%), and on a 500% zoom, they are virtually indistinguishable. good enough for me.

ok. a VHS tape is interlaced; when you capture it, try capturing at 352x480 at 29.97fps, then use whatever software (virtualdub works) you are using to resize it to 352x240. Capture to AVI, and if possible, do it uncompressed. if you don't have the space for that, use Indeo 5.x or cinepak codec set to 100% (no additional compression). OK. if at all possible, do your editing to uncompressed files; every time you compress, you lose something, so avoid it. If space is a consideration, use the above mentioned codecs (but you will still lose something). when you are done editing, you will have passable VHS or VCD quality video, about half the res of DVD (720x480). since you started out with VHS, thats hard to avoid. Use your ulead media studio, or the bundled software that comes with most DVD burners, to create the DVD. For the web, you don't WANT to make it bigger than it has to be; use DivX Codec on your 352x240 file, with BW set to 150kbps, and you will have something not very big that will stream on most broadband.

Thread: Poser memory issues. Again. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
there are some slight differences in how memory pages between different versions of windows; I don't see any reference to what you are using. General advice: reduce your paging file to the minimum setting (usually 2mb), reboot. you will get most likely a "insufficient virtual memory" warning, ignore. defrag the drive that the paging file is on. when complete, set the minimum swap file size to the same size as your physical memory (in your case, 2gb); set tyhe maximum size to 1.5 times your physical memory (in your case, 3GB). make sure your swap file is on your fastest physical drive. depending on your version of windows, in performance options set application response to background applications; this will slightly slow you down but increase your systems ability to handle things smoothly. Poser 4 had some issues with addressing memory addresses greater than 2gb, if I recall correctly; if your running multiple applications, try starting up poser first, it might make a difference. credentials: Systems Engineer since 1991, Poser user since Poser 2.

I'm CERTAIN this isn't the answer you are looking for. I would (If I hadn't already purchased Vue, that is): Do the poser 4 setup. add a square a couple of units below the ground. export each individual frame as an .obj, including the square prop in the export. use grouper to fix up the textures. import each .obj into bryce, hiding the square below the ground. as long as the square is in the same spot (below ground, and hence invisible) each time, the figure will be in the right spot. obviously, this would only work if the x,y,z data in the BVH file is correct.

Thread: how big is YOUR runtime? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
106GB? how is that even possible? in my poser pro runtime I have 2.4GB, and thats with a LOT of PZ3's saved, and a bunch of my own "not quite good enough" creations. Hmm. the last time I backed it up, it fit on 2 CD's. I think I might be due again.

Hah! My last pack had support for Dina, Mayadoll, Vicky 1,2,3 and steph3. Of course I couldn't actually get 'osity to accept it, might release it as freestuff if it goes another month without a sale at 3dcommune. I spent toooooooo much time on it for no one to use it. http://www.changestorm.com/products/DCP2 if curious.

ockham, won't you PLEASE think of us poor untalented hacks who are always searching desperately for something simple to add to the marketplace to make lots of $$$ off of? Sheesh.

Jim Burton: as long as you don't exceed the elasticity limits of the cloth, it should keep up with the figure as it changes. it's probably not the best way to do it, BTW, but if I'm going to be doing a animation where I CAN NOT start from something close to a zero pose, I'll figure out what the beginning is going to be, and make that the end of a 20 frame animation; run the drape/anim from zero-pose to that point, then export the cloth as a .obj. That way you can import the cloth to the weird twisted form, use that as your starting point for the animation as long as you turn off "start from zero pose" in your clothify settings. that sounded much to weird to actually make sense to anyone, but I can't figure out a easier way to say it.

thats one way it works; put your V3 in, add the dynamic clothing, save your combo, do your animation, clear, reload your combo, do your next animation. (I think this is what your talking about, though) the dynamic cloth is not conforming; it is a fixed shape mesh. if you start your V3 figure in zero-pose, and your dynamic cloth items is for V3, when you add the cloth item to V3 it should probably look like it's draped; if you change the V3's arm position, for instance, the arm of the clothing won't change to match, you'll have to re-drape it or check "drape from zero pose" in the settings. If i'm doing a still image, i'll make the pose, lighting, etc I want in frame 30, then animate the cloth from the zero pose in frame 1 to the end product in frame 30. If I'm doing an animation...well thats complicated.

yeesh. can't say as I like it (Daz Studio) a whole lot. excellent for the price, of course.. I can't see doing a tutorial with it without using it a whole lot more, and I can't see using it a whole lot more until it gets as feature-full as poser 4.
