You did it--and its a great one--I just have one small problem--my 56K modem sniff, double sniff.ย Plutomย
Thread: Curse Poser to the lowest circle of hell | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sure would like to see if Mac users are having the same problem with Poser as we who are PC users.
My VUE5 ย will do the same thing once in a while (simply close).ย I believe its not Poser specific.ย What I THINK and I repeat THINKย is happening is that the 512KB reserved housekeepingย portion of Ram fills up and the CPU has a "heart attack" (layman's term).ย The folks that advise save, save, save, IMHO, are so correct.ย One other thing to do is shutdown the computer periodically for at least 10 seconds to flush the garbage out of RAM and that 512KB reserved area.
I think thatย MS wonderfully sets aside, ย 512K for housekeeping (regardless of what or how much RAM you have be it 128, 512, 1024, 2048 MB or a googleplex or RAM).ย If it doesn't flush out, you get these neat little surprises.ย On the other hand Mac uses as much of your total RAM as it needs, that why the opening question.ย

You folks got me interested in this so I tried it with a ground plane and a sphere resting on it.ย When I set the sphere to invisible, no shadow even with shadow activated.ย MatrixWorks' steps work.ย However,ย one more ย thing you can check is the shadow intensity of your lighting .ย ย
IIf the shadows areย set too low the shadows won't show well.ย eg a setting of decimal 2 (.2)ย will give an extremely faint shadow while a setting of one (1 ) gives you pure black.ย Try eliminating all lights except one. Set the intensity of theย shadow to one (1) in the lighting controlsย and see if you got the shadow, then reduce the intensity to your taste.ย ย I have Poser 5 and it works just fine-Plutom
Thread: Memory, Rendering Times and Ram Disks | Forum: Carrara
I'm just wondering if co processor video cardsย will work in reducing rendering times for VUE.
What I understand (more or less) about the video co processorย is that its CPU is dedicated to graphics and relieve the motherboard's CPU of that function.ย The down side is that these cards are extremely expensive ($3000).
Does any one here have any experience with them and what software they support?
Thread: Question about purchasing figures, clothing etc--why? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think some folks here misunderstood my question. Unfortunately when one writes a question, it is not the same as asking it in person. My question was not intended to be sarcastic in any way. I'm a newbie to Poser anything and simply wanted to know. Most of you answered my question in the spirit in which was asked and I thank you. It's like asking why buy Poser 6? Plutom
Thread: Poser 4 -out of memory | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A computer uses two areas for memory use. One is a reserved 512K memory block (that never changes whether you have 8Megs or 2Gigs of RAM) and that's the one that probably gives you the error message. Something clogged it up and stayed. Try a warm reboot (that is click on the restart button in your turn off the computer menu). What that does is clear out any junk in that portion of your RAM. Thread: The dreaded "program is not responding" message using P5. Why????? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sometimes that happens to me too, especially when I click on something in Poser while it's trying to do something else. What I do is this: Cntrl Alt Del once to bring up the status screen and check the real time graph. See if the graph indicates that the CPU is redlined at the top. If it is, Poser is doing something--just wait a minute. My message usually goes away in about a minute or two and everything begins to run normally. Plutom

Thread: How can I make a bump map while using P5... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Good on you! Did you do it in the Materials Room, in your paint program or both-details. Pictures look pretty good indeed. Plutom
Thread: How can I make a bump map while using P5... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is an excellent question and I would post this question in the PaintShop Pro etc. forums too. At least your question would certainly challenge them. I'm interested in what you come up with. Plutom

You probably wouldn't have any problem whatsoever. However, there is an outstanding backup plan which I actually prefer. Import both puppies into PSP separately and do your post lighting etc there. Plutom
Thread: Clothing for Ben & Kate | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Mommyphant, if there isn't what you can do is make your own. Just go through all the conforming clothing lists for Poser 2 thru 5 and import it into your scene and conform it to your figure after resizing the clothing to roughly the same size. Then separately export your figure and clothing to your favorite paint program for some serious post work. At least you have the basic texture then stretch twist the clothing to cover what you want. Presto, clothing that you want and you did it your self. By the way Poser image exports in .tiff format has a neat alpha channel mask that you can use to eliminate the grey or whatever background (as long as the background doesn't have any images assigned). When you get good at this, you can really create some outstanding looking clothing and do it very quickly. Plutom
Thread: Mil Girl Character with V2 Clothing and Hair? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Dannii, there is another thing you can do (it works for me and I do it all the time-cheat). Import whatever clothing you want into your scene and conform it to the figure. Then make it invisible and render your naked figure and save it as a .TIFF file in your favorite paint program (I have the cheapy PaintShop Pro ver 7). Do the same with the halfway conformed clothing making the figure invisible. Then simply find your mask pulldown, each figure has a white mask of it. Just click on it and the background of your figure is gone! Now the tricky part. Make another layer and place it below or under this one and "X", then go to your figure and merge the mask and the figure layers (yes there are two layers there). Do the same for the clothing, then copy the merged layer and paste it as a separate layer to your figure rendering. Resize it, clone it to parts of the figure that shows through and trim off what you don't want. Heck, if you want matching boots, just clone the clothes around the feet and shins. This sounds complicated, but all this can be done in the time it took me to write this (except for the trimming that is). Yes, I posted this before but, I'm milking this. By the way you can make shorts, ball gowns, tank tops, and a thousand other variations of that one dress, even gloves, hats, belts. Plutom

One other thing about Mover 5, it is not a stand alone program and here is the direct quote from E-ON "--it will not function without a valid installation of Vue d'Esprit or Vue Professional. Each Mover 5 license corresponds to a unique Vue d'Esprit (or Vue Professional) license. Similarly, Poser 4 or 5 animations will not be loaded without a valid installation of Poser 4 or 5 (Poser Pro Pack is not required)." Vue d'Esprit for version 5 is now called VUE 5. Randym77, I certainly agree with you, Vue 5 is 5 is extremely easy to learn and use. If I can learn it, anybody can-Plutom
