Thread: Importing obj's with multiple meshes | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Never mind, I see that the browse button does that....Again, thanks for all the help, guys!
Thread: Importing obj's with multiple meshes | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Create figure worked, although I may go the route of importing the separate meshes and grouping them in DAZ. Can anyone tell me how to add a texture map to the diffuse channel?

So far they've always come in as one mesh, not as separate, grouped meshes.....and inside Maya--where it was modeled--they're all placed within a hierarchy and named differently. I'm not sure if there's something I need to do on Maya's end when exporting them that I'm not doing.
Thread: Geocontrol 2 and Vue 8, problems.... | Forum: Vue
Yes, I was creating the selectors before exporting them, but for some reason they were showing up as all black images. However, when I reloaded the program they started showing up properly. And yes, I've been following all the steps, including setting it to 1.01 and object parametric....
But has anyone else experienced what I mentioned above?....where, upon loading the geocontrol terrain tiff it comes out looking stunted until you hit the reset button?.....

And I'm using Geocontrol 2 still....guess it might be time to upgrade....but I still haven't upgraded to Vue 10 so that's more important (and certainly more costly)....
Thread: Geocontrol 2 and Vue 8, problems.... | Forum: Vue
This is exactly what I'm doing except for using Zero edges....for me I exit, re-enter and preset reset and it seems to make it look right....I just played around with geocontrol again and I noticed that the problem I was having with creating selectors (it was just creating a black picture) seems to have righted itself since rebooting....perhaps when I try the selectors I'll have better luck....but maybe I'll try what you said about turning the tif into a jpg....thanks for the info!
Thread: Boxes in preview windows..... | Forum: Vue
Do you mean the box that says "Limit OpenGL polygons"?....I have that unticked already, which I figured would do the trick....there's also "Max number of displayed instances" in reference to ecosystems.....for that I have it set to 1,000,000...

Thanks guys.....
Sorry I wasn't as forthcoming as I should have been with my specs....my friend put it together so I'm not sure about all the answers....it's 64 bit, Asus Sabertooth X58, and the graphics card (is that the same as a video card?) is Galaxy GeForce GTS 450....

And thd777, I bet you're right about changing from shader 4, but I do love the imoproved visuals so I might only change it when a certain scene because especially buggy....
Thanks again!
Thread: Suddenly having super long render times with Vue 8 Infinite | Forum: Vue
No, just Vue....I've been playing around, using older scenes and finding that they seem to render normally....then I loaded the ecos Im using now and it slowed....so I guess it's that....but I dont see why....they're compossed of simple plants, most of which I've used many times before in other ecos....now I'm recreating these ecos and seeing if they still go slowly....none of this makes much sense to me.....it's as if Vue just up and changes every so often....
Thread: Suddenly having super long render times with Vue 8 Infinite | Forum: Vue
Something's definately wrong....now Vue 7 is acting up....I'm so fed up with this....Vue has always been really buggy, but at least after all the bugs I could render a picture the way I wanted it....
Thread: Suddenly having super long render times with Vue 8 Infinite | Forum: Vue
Yeah, that's my next thought.....I dont remember any render times but I think it'll be obvious if the problem is there....sadly, I'm a big fan of lush, intricate grasslands....for the time being I might try expanding to more dry landscapes, with lots of rocky outcrops....
Thread: Suddenly having super long render times with Vue 8 Infinite | Forum: Vue
Well, I have 3 meg of RAM....but the polygon count of the scene I'm having problems with is nowhere near what I usually do....it's really a simple scene....I've rendered much more complex scenes without these kinds of problems.....as for the textures, I doubt they're a problem.....the vegetation is what's causing the long render time (as always happens) but the textures are the same.....
And for some reason I didn't get the sample scenes when I downloaded it....either that or they're somewhere I can't find.....

Yes, but I always use GR lighting....I've been using high settings for a long time, and am not surprised when I do a final render at User settings that takes two days....but my latest attempts render so slow that after 2 days its only at 72%, and when I let it render for 4 or 5 more hours it doesn't change....and these last attempts are using Ultra, so I can't even imagine what it would be like if I changed it to User settings.....thanks for the reply, though!....I think the ultimate thing is to get a new computer once I have the money.....
