Thanks Silverblade! I'll check it out :-) I think booleans could work for the text. I've mocked up several bands in Carrara and Bryce which turned out ok, but I'm looking into other options to see if I can create something that looks better.

It works! Thank you so much for your help! You saved me many hours of trying to figure out how to do that. I am very greatful :-)

BTW, I'm using Cararra 3 if that makes a difference. That might be why it looks different than my shader box.

Awesome! Thanks for your help. I think I've almost got it! I'm having some trouble with the shader though. How do I make a rectangular layer (or edit the shader of the rectangular layer). Sorry, I'm still a Carrara noobie. I really appreciate your help :-)

I have the educational version of Cararra 3. Does anyone know if they're offering a pre-order for the educational 4 Pro upgrade yet? I can't wait to learn more about the new landscape improvements. Looks exciting!

I saved the tree in .lwo format and imported it into vue. For some reason my tree has no leaves in the preview or when I render it. Do you know what I may be doing wrong?

There's an even better tutorial at the bottom of that one. I found it much easier than creating your alphas in an image editing program. You can do it all in Vue!The trick is getting your tree lighting right so it doesn't look too washed out like in this pic. I haven't quite mastered the lighting yet, but it's still nice to be able to make alphas so quickly in Vue.
BTW, the grass is a free sample from Marlin Studios. They have a huge collection of trees and plants with alpha maps. Here's a link to the freebie page: http://www.marlinstudios.com/samples/sampvtf.htm

Thanks! I just purchased Vue and will be getting some xfrog plants as well as making my own pretty soon. Will the conversion work with Xfrog 3.5?

Thanks! I'll check out those places. I can't wait to get started. I know I'll have a lot of fun with Cararra.

Thanks for your help! I must have done something wrong during the authentication process. I'll contact Adobe and see what they have to say. Thanks again! -Xenobug

I kind of wish they wouldn't use nude thumbnails in the marketplace since I like to visit Renderocity at work sometimes. :-P

Thanks! Importing the .obj and exporting it out again worked! But I noticed it doesn't work all the time. It seems like if I do too many adjustments to the head I get the long neck morph. I've read a bit about what causes this but I still can't figure out why mine is doing it. I'll have to play with it a bit more I guess :-)
Thread: OT?- may get killed for this..but terragen? | Forum: Bryce
I use Terragen a bit for backgrounds in my Bryce art. Some of the artwork people have done just in Terragen is amazing though. It takes a bit of work, but I found Terragen very easy to use. I also tried out Mojoworld which can create some great landscapes, but the render times are crazy. Sometimes you have to turn off shadows and smog if you want to get your render done in a day. It's also took me a while to learn how to use the program and make planets from scratch. I still don't exactly know what I'm doing and most of the cool scenes I make are completely by accident. Mojoworld is worth checking out though. You are able to import objects too which is nice.
