you should go for it and make the figure exactly as you want it. Poser 4 clothes are robust and scale well. If you make JP changes the clothes should work with rigging from a donor CR2.ย

Moogal, that's a cool render. Yeah, new tech is nice. I am just fascinated by the old super Poser 4 specific look and miss it sometimes. Wish there was an archive of that weird old stuff. Renderotica used to have some wild Poser 3/4 stuff up but I'm sure those artists are long gone from the gallery now... Definitely no uncanny valley issues with Poser 4... it had such a specific lo-fi 3D look to it though... almost toon-like to my 2014 eyes. Its not that I am against progress... I guess I just wish old and new mediums co-existed more. Silent-film and talkies etc. Not the old stuff only but new stuff in the old forms. I miss some of my old mid-nineties art-making software that won't run on modern machines, I'm glad for my new software but I still do miss my old software.

Thanks, Cage. Your old stuff had that more illustrative look old Poser 4 stuff had. Less photo-real and more like old pulp magazine cover paintings in gouache. I think I liked that old stuff more than most of the new stuff... it was more Folk Art and less Hollywood. I feel like the old stuff as I remember it had more emphasis on weird imagery and narratives. It was less about the virtual surfaces given the inevitable "plastic-looking" quality of the renders. I try to keep hold of that in my work by blasting stuff with IBL or plugging diffuse texture maps into the ambient channels but I have not found my way back to that weird plastic quality in renders. My computer was so lousy back in the late nineties that I often just anti-aliased my previews rather than actually rendered. I loved painting in the hair and clothes etc. in Photoshop. There was something about the crudeness of the models and render engine that drove personal vision more in a lot of people's work I kind of think and often that made it pretty evocative. There is an unrealness to pre-firefly renders that I still find fascinating.ย

Thread: Making Accurate Faces with a 3d Program | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have not used FaceShop for a while but I my approach was to create 3 morphs from scratch and then blend them - still I had to use default morphs for stuff like eye size. I was disapointed with integration to Poser as opposed to DS. I found it more usefull for adding a little life-like asymetry and imperfection to a face to get further away from the DAZ figure default then for getting liknesses. The textures it created for me were never useful. Back with Poser 3 I made a sort of soft face replacement head with planer projection UV for the P3 Man and Woman and I remember liking the results. I would love if someone would persue that aproach... a good soft morphing head prop with planer UVs for rapid cloning of faces from simple head shots to Poser just for background as opposed to foreground figures. I developed that technique from an old game app my kids had pre-Y2K which projected a snapshot onto a smooth head mesh to make an animated bobble-head avitar that could dance around and sing and such. Because the mesh was smooth but three dimensional the likness depended entirely on texture map and the 3D realism on soft dimensionality of bone structure which could be roughly individualized and scaled.

Thread: Who wants a 3D figure with integrated genitals? Post for a Yes. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
5 of course. Judy had great genitals... the figure just broke up when I tried to make different body types with it and my bonus for being an early adopter on Poser 5 was that they never gave me the FBMs for Judy in my Poser Content download. Did anyone ever get the Judy FBMs? Her face diffult Face Room face was pretty hot too for all the ugly of the Judy face morph.

Anyway, back to OP. Yes... 5

Thread: Transfer V4 textures automatically to other characters... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
People used to distribute tiny .uvs files that would let you use the textures for one figure on another figure with the .obj modified by the free UVmapper Pro and the .cr2 redirected. Not only does it mean no duplicate MATposes and textures but it means the original MATposes with thier fancy shaders could be applied to the figure with modified .obj. I want to use my V4 textures on V3 not just for the better maps but also for the shaders.

Thanks re. PoserPhysics 2012. SM product page does not say though if it works with PoserPro 2014. Anyone know if it does?

I liked HeadForge very much since my objective is always about getting a figure away from the default in different ways as easily and quickly as possible - a Head Forge with on-the-fly area selection by paint for whatever figure would be awesome - that or a third party riff on the Face Room that would alow for scaling and translating face areas and doing rough texture mods via blending with overlays.
