Thread: OT~PLEA FOR HELP..... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I couldnt even look at those pictures. Id probably find it easier to look at pictures of the people responsible for this sin in the conditions of the dogs in the few pics I couldnt avoid seeing when the page loaded :(
Found the signature/comment module as quickly as I could, signed, commented and closed the page. Wow.
I wish your daughter all the luck in the world in having an impact on this horrible situation. Im happy to be able to help her achieve her goal of 100 sigs.
Gonna pour myself a stiff drink now, my ulcer will just have to deal with it.Â
yeeeeeeeeeeeesh.....how the crap does our race survive itself I gotta wonder sometimes :(

Lemme chime in here about P5 functionality on older comps from my experience. The situation:
When P4's were past the 2gig point, bout I think 4 - 6 years ago, I set out to build the best obsolete P3 I could to chase cheap parts. Total expenditure turned out to be $1,200.00 for hardware alone:
MSI motherboard with 1.2gig P3 cpu ceiling and 1.5gig RAM ceiling at pc133 busspd
1.5 gigs of DIMM RAM (3x512 stick)
1.13gig P3 Tualitin CPU
P5 cant do much on this machine at all. Multiple chars choke not only the firefly but the P4 renderer as well. Until I can sink around half a grand into a P4 system -Â and unless im working with at least a gig of the new DDR RAM I think im really gonna notice a difference from the 1.5g DIMM speed im used to, so push that half a grand figure up a respectable bit! - I really am "stuck" with ProPack. Add the complication of my car's recent dropping of its transmission and my prospects of the P4 system get even more back-burnered :/
I think many users may not realise just how poorly P5 performs on even the most maxed out of the obsoletes out there :(
I dont see myself getting rid of PP even when I do finally upgrade. Its so intuitive and easy to set up a complex scene. I have been able to successfully do small projects in cloth room of P5 to export to PP for texturing and rendering and I am completely impressed with what ive been able to do with P5. Im very eager to learn it more completely, as well as newer versions!! I just have no choice but to be patient about that at this point though :)

Thread: question about installing poser 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sounds like you got it under control. Far out :)
Now that youre at the point of side by side working installs of Poser 4 and Poser 5, with Poser 4's Runtime imported to Poser 5 (effectively, you just "introduced" your P5 to your existing P4 Runtime and it will now follow the file tree to all needed .cr2's, .obj's, textures etc right where they normally reside in your P4 folders and read thier data from there, and implement in the P5 workspace)
Now there is a pretty necessary next step to employ if you are a user of Daz3D's head and/or body morphs for the millennium characters:
If you have installed any head/body morphs, you should have a !DAZ folder at
Poser 4RuntimeLibraries!DAZ
take this folder and copy (important that you copy not move this folder) it to the same location under P5:
Poser 5RuntimeLibraries!DAZ
The reason for this is that there are vital data files for the function of the morphs that cant seem to be read from an imported runtime, that !DAZ directory has to be under the "local" Runtime's library directory.
If you ever install any additional morph packs from DAZ (say you currently have M3 bodymorphs and you at a later time get the David head morphs, etc) make sure to get the new files added to the !DAZ folder copied over.
Hope this helps,
Logan

NOTE: importing your existing runtime is NOT physically moving your P4 runtime directory. Dont delete or move any P4 files, just launch your P5 installer, then post back if you cant find the import instructions in a forum search.
Thread: question about installing poser 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You do not have to uninstall at all unless youve some kind of upgrade only installation which I doubt.
If a win user, your current Poser 4 will be under C:/Program Files/Meta Creations/Poser 4 or C:/Program Files/Curious Labs/Poser 4 if you allowed your installer of P4 to go to its default location and depending upon when you purchased it.
Poser 5 will install to C:/Program Files/Curious Labs/Poser 5 by default, and you can have Poser 4, Poser 5 and Poser 6 subdirs all in your Curious Labs or Meta Creations subdir and they all work fine. You can only have one at a time launched however.
Once youve installed your P5, you can import your P4 runtime so you dont have to reinstall all your content.
hope this helps,
Logan

FK Design makes STUNNING hair - including the lovely Alanis hair Propschick has employed in her example render here.
FK Design has a pretty extensive line of hair at 3Dcommune:
http://www.3dcommune.com/3d/store/display.mv?vs_fabi
Quarker makes some really popular hair as well, Grace Lion and Sapphire Fox come immediately to mind :)
Regarding photoreal textures: Cake1 has a really wild set at Daz3D called XCU (extreme close up) this is a multi texture set of the light-skinned variety with unfreckled, medium and heavy freckled base skins with no painted eyebrows or pubic hair. In the expansion sets are eyebrow, eyelash and pubic hair shape options, and you can set colors to match any hair color you choose. Search for XCU at http://www.daz3d.com
Pose sets are freakin ABUNDANT, for free, cheap as free, slightly more expensive than free, and so on. Searches for poses in freestuffs are allways rewarding.
You didnt ask, but Id like to offer that face sets are a great aid to char creation. Here in freestuff there are some exquisite faces and chars from Valea, and at RDNA (www.runtimedna.com) you can find many many really excellent face packages for $5.
If you are developing an appreciation for Posette, which I think is awesome, then for texture realism, you owe it to yourself to checkout Snowsultan's Vickibuser texture for posette. Anywoman at posette forever is also very very good, and there are great face morphs for Posette there as well (www.posetteforever.com)
A Posette hybrid or remap wearing a photo-realistic V2 texture and a fine hair product can pretty much stand toe-to-toe with Victoria 1 2 or 3 in any render.
Hope some of the mentioned products here appeal to your personal taste. Good Luck!

could try making the left boot invisible, bring in a second instance of the boots, make the second right boot invisible, and then position and parent the second left boot? (this is probably a desperation ploy that will be made obsolete by a more logical fix, but it could get you back to work in poser while waiting for a simpler solution)

Ah crap I didnt think about duplicating the limb adjustments :/
nruddock has the awesome suggestion here. I think youd only want to use what I suggested in a case of a custom magnet morphed char where you cant read any dial settings and duplicate on matching garment segments.
Thread: Tips on fitting shoes to characters with longer legs? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
the leg and foot mesh of SP3 is most likely stretched and morphed in the creation of this char, and the boots you are using expect to conform with the default mesh, so the boots cant logically conform any longer.
Your best option would be to make the heiress' feet and toes invisible, position the boots over the shins properly, parent the boots to SP3s shins (Boot>LShin to SP3>LShin and Boot RShin to SP3>RShin), then use the bend and twist dials on the boots feet and toes to get the proper pose with feet contacting the floor surface.
