No not spam. First thing I checked. Re did my settings and seem to be working again except with this thread now. I can live with that. Sorry for the ot.

I can't find the thread that used primitives for the mesh now. Oh well. I think it's always a good idea to remind users what can be done. Older users need reminding and newer users may not have even thought about it.
Thanks for the reminder.

That was directed at me and I was not bickering just calling BS.
edit to ask why when you quote someone it does not add the quote name?
I was just being my contentious old self. Nothing against anyone....As for the quote, it's never worked that way here.
I've been away for a few months and couldn't remember if it did or didn't. I don't get reply ebots even though it's checked. I do get them from a couple of older threads that just got resurrected. Oh well. Same old, same old with a few new twists.

You can also do this with cylinders. You can use a couple of cylinders or what ever primitive and slightly rotate and trans it. Then export and import that to create a higher rez mesh to any size /shape with additional use of magnets.. ie dr.geeps glue. So you could line all these primitives up as a piece of clothing and export / import and run it through the clothroom.
Charlie43 use the grouping tool. Better yet. check out the grouping tool tutorials by geep.
Vilters. Hope I'm not stepping on any toes for the input. Been away for a few months and the forum seems to have changed. Policed more? Anyways there are old threads about this when we first got the clothroom P5. Might still be some good info on this in those threads.

Quote - > Quote - What you may not realize, and I don't recall anyone else saying, is the Genesis has swappable uv mapping with M4 and V4.
I had mentioned that earlier when I told the OP that you could serve both Poser and DS4 customers by offering both a Genesis and Poser version of your products.
Quote -
No. your answer is very vague and does not give any impression of UV swapping. It makes it sound more like needing to create and include two separate products into one package.
Quote - There's a bit of Gen4 fatigue going on, where you're not seeing anything new or exciting for the figures... just rehashes of bras and panties, skimpy items and simple dynamic items being sold. Figure textures and figures are looking the same, with the same recycled merchant resources.
Your joking right? You have just described the DAZ store. Pretty much all the stores in these communities for over the 10 years I've been around.
Quote - Our last few products have had been for both Gen4 and Genesis to make sure that both Poser and DS4 users can use our products and that's worked pretty well for us... and that's why I suggested it. From all the heresay and speculation that's went on the forums we were nervous about releasing a V5 item, but interestingly that ended up selling more that almost all of Gen4 items in their introductory period. With our last product (Santo), we separated the product into an M4, Genesis and Bundle, because we there was two much work that went into it to offer it as a single product (body shapes, scaling, hand, foot and toe morphs). But I thought it would be a good way to gauge if what was said about what sells was true (which was bundle, Genesis, and then Gen4).
Marketing. That's all there is to it. Sales are dropping not because of gen 4 but because people just don't have the cash flow they used to have and the split in the community. So DAZ needs to push the two app marketing. You can't even use your example to guage because it's being sold at DAZ. Do you really think you would get the same stats selling that product here? I don't think so.
Quote - Maybe because of influx of people grabbing the DS4 that could explain it
Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.
To the OP. The best post here was DustyRider. You need to demo both apps and make your own judgement on what you want to do. I use both. Prefer Poser but I like the Genesis figure. That's something I can agree with Male_M3dia. It would benefit you to learn both if you can if you want to do some marketing.
At least your question is easy to answer. Try both apps.
I'm still sitting here starring at the Modo 601 "buy it" button. To click or not to click that is the question.

Or you could use any pillow create a magnet to it but parent the magnet to the figures head or what ever body part you want. the pillow will morph to the figure.

Your card is an nvidia. So it's cant be a crossfire. Crossfire is ATI or now known as AMD GPU's. NVIDIA are SLI. But I don't think you can do that with the 210.
Depends on what ram sticks you have. Do you have 4gb sticks installed or do you have the common 2gb sticks. Which would only give you 8gb total with all working correctly.
My Workstations can do 16gb also but they are ddr2 ram and 4gb sticks cost an arm and a leg. So I only have 8gb installed. It's not worth buying bigger ram. It's better to just put that money to a new up to date, kinda, workstation. The bigger faster ram is cheeper that the old.
Thread: OT: Motherboard and Memory | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OK the simple way to understand. It's the way the ram works with each other. AMD Mobo's are dual channel ram . The intel 1155 is dual channel ram. The 1366 is tri channel. The not yet released 2011 will be quad channel ram.
PCI-E is your GPU slot or other things. Mainly as GPU. Right now we are using PCI-E 2 but it is rumoured that the new 2011 mobos will be able to have PCI-E 3. That would be the next generation of GPU's.
All it means is a bit more efficient speed in ram and GPU use. But I don't think that the average user would notice it much.
Thread: OT: Motherboard and Memory | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It will be quad channel in the new intel 2011 Mobo's
Also talk of PCI-E 3 with the new intels.
Thread: OT: Motherboard and Memory | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Wait as long as you can. Both the AMD Bulldozer and the new Intel sandybridge/2011 mobo will be out. Amd around next week or so from the latest I've read. And the new intels not long after that. Then the prices of everything below that will drop even more.
AS an example. Right now I can get an Asus Sabertooth 990FX/ Phenom II X6 1100T BE combo for around $380. That will drop a good $50 as soon as the new stuff is released. More by the new year. That will be the same for both AMD and Intel.
Also the longer you wait the more real info will be available as real users start buying and posting.

Most of the AM3+ boards I have seen can do 32gb.
Quote - 4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2133 (O.C.) / 1866 / 1600 / 1333 / 1066 Hz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel Memory Architecture
That's an average spec quote. RAM type may vary a bit. So that's 4 x 8gb ram sticks.
The 1366 boards are 24gb with 6 slots but the new 1155 boards are 32gb with 4 slots, same as the am3+.
Thread: OT: Motherboard and Memory | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No Mobo for AMD, not counting servers, have more than 4 ram slots. If you went to an Intel cpu you could then get an 1366 Mobo with 6 ram slots. 24gb of DDR3 ram.
But from what I have seen so far with the new i7's sandybrigde or what ever they will call them, not yet released. The Mobo's are back to 4 slots again. The ones I've seen so far, but are quad channel.
So two options to go higher than 16gb RAM.
1366 Mobo.
8gb RAM sticks instead of 4gb ram sticks but it is going to cost for those 8 gb sticks.

Quote - The reason for the hype about the new figure is to recoup development costs of adding weight mapping support to DS4. Think about it, had they simply created a .dsf format version of V4 no one would buy into it. Since business can't remain static you get the "new figure" spin.
File format has nothing to do with it.
Quote - Hmm. Interestingly enough if you import the blMilWom_4b.obj from the geometries folder directly into Poser you get precisely the same results as with the exported Genesis mesh object in regard to the morphing tool.
Furthermore if you select the imported Genesis mesh then click the group tool you see that the groups are in fact present.
I'll make it simpler for you to understand what I was talking about. Open DS4. Then load up V4 along side Genesis figure. Select the head of both figures and add a deformer to both of them. See what happens. The deformer will work on V4 head but does not on Genesis. You need to select the Genesis figure to add a deformer and then trans it to where you want the morph to be.
In V4 if you want the morph to work on the hip/abbs chest and r/l collar. You have to add those groups to the deformer. Then export each group and load each group. Scripts make the process a little easier but still lots of work. Or do the UVMapper trick to get a groupless mesh to work on in other software and then move it back to UVMapper to get the groups back and then go through the export/import/inject process.
You don't need to go through all that with Genesis.
Quote - Guess what that means? That there is the capability to create actor specific morphs using the CCT.
What some folks are getting stuck on is that without the CCT all you can make areFBMs so are presuming from single indication that there are no groups in Genesis.
. Nobody is stuck on that except you thinking everyone is. The CCT is not out for public use yet. DAZ has even stated in thier commons forum that they were working on being able to do that with the CCT. Not much need to delve deep into the workings to know that. BTW. They have had videos out for some time now on the, how to, about rigging things besides the whole process from start to finish. Again you can only go halfway with it until the CCT is out because that is what you need.
Quote - Now let's take the oft repeated statement that content creation will now be simpler.
Where's the content?
Yada yada the rest of the quote. Simple answer is they rushed DS4 and Genesis out the door before they had the content ready.
The longer version would be it takes a bit of time for the PA's to learn a new work flow and tools. Which you are confusing, "learning a new work flow," with, "not as much work so should have it out sooner."
Once they, the PA's and the rest of us learn the new work flow. It will be easier to create more stuff with less work and time involved. And if you watch this sale they are having right now. You will see some new stuff and more of it. It is now starting to show up.
