That makes much more sense, thanks Richard! The weightmap is always a modifier, it's just that it cannot do anything if the slider value is already zero. In general the sliders in the Surfaces pane would have the maximum value you wanted anywhere on that surface, or even on the whole model, and then you would use a weightmap to reduce that in the areas that didn't need the maximum value.

Thanks Richard,The node is just for accessing the weightmaps, they actually belong to the dForce modifier itself and they modifiy whichever proeprties they apply to (by multiplication - so if the dynamic strength is set to 0 in the surface properties then no weight map can make it non-zero, but if the strength is set to 100% then a weightmap can set the actual strength on a vertex to any value from 0 to 100%).
So as long as the Dynamic strength on the surface attributes is not zero, the weightmap node serves only as a modifier to the other surface attributes?

I'm running on AMD Ryzen 9 when I first posted this. Is Ryzen 7 enough?I was thinking about this too, but on my system, it says that my pc does Not meet the requirements for Win11... i have an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 32gb ram and an RTX3090...
either they have no idea what they are talking about, something is reporting wrong, or Win11 needs an absolute beast of a machine.
Thread: Transfer Morphs Question | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I think I understand, the morph in DAZ are just deltas so there's no explicit end point that describes the 3 points in XYZ tricoordinate plane. a calculation step is needed to get that endpoint in relation to an OBJ (morph). which is all Poser has...
Thread: Transfer Morphs Question | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Thanks Richard, yeah that's the way I was going to do unless there was a more elegant way of doing it. Looks like it is a manual job to do if there is no other way. How come autofit seems to get all the morphs from a V4 piece of clothing and transfers them to a Genesis figure? You would need to export the morph dress as OBJ, then (if I followed) reshape that to match the shape of the V4 version of the dress. or just use its changes from default to guide how to change the OBJ you used Transfer Utility on. Once you have a long version of the V4 dress shape just use Edit>Morph Loader Pro to load it as a morph for the dress.

Thread: Transfer Morphs Question | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Thanks Richard,
Oh, I convert the rigging of V4 to weightmapped before using the transfer utility on the dress.Â
What and where do I right click on? Is that the tool that transfers V4 morphs to the dress?
Actually I should clarify, the original g8f dress has a morph called 'skirt length' I'd like to transfer that morph on to the V4 version of the dress. Is that possible to do without having to make an obj in Hexagon and then transferring it via morph loader?
Thanks!
Thread: Transfer Morphs Question | Forum: DAZ|Studio
When I mean doing this manually, I am trying to avoid having to rebuild each morph in Hexagon and then exporting the resulting OBJ into the morph loader DAZ script. I'd like to know how Autofit is able to port all the morphs of say a Genesis 2 figure clothing to a G3F figure clothing when completed...
I hope there's a way to do it in an automated way to transfer the morphs from a DAZ Genesis clothing figure to a Poser clothing figure like V4

Oh hell yeah!
Thing is, I changed all my ghost light light luminosity values to be one million times higher to get the same effect after the last update and now I will have to change them back when the ghost lights in beta become live... oh well...

I've downloaded it and installed it while crossing my fingers. Looks like it installed OK and I'm not experiencing any craziness with DAZ. Thanks all!

Thanks all, looks like most of you aren't experiencing anything too loco so I'll give it a shot after this weekend!

Oh,Looking forward to it.
Incidentally I did experiment a bit with the texture applied to an existing dress figure I have in my runtime and the result was interesting although in the area where it was tear or a hole it appeared an opaque black. How would I go about transforming the black areas to transparent?
Thanks.
Make sure to place the transmap into the opacity node of your surface to get a see through hole...

Thanks!
I think when it releases, I'll look into the Poser solution with DAZ's export to CR2 fratures
Thread: Torn or Tattered Dress | Forum: Suggestion Box
Honestly though it could be awhile for me to get around to experimenting with the Poser end of this project but I'll let you in on a secret on how I made this render-
I bought these textures and tiled them into my dress's surface nodes and got a really convincing tattered look...I bet you could take any dress in your content library and make it just as tattered as this one with the textures in this product, link below

Thread: Torn or Tattered Dress | Forum: Suggestion Box
Your timing for the suggestion was spot on, I am actually in the middle of making a dForce Dress for V4 to sell here. The Poser part is something I have to do some churning on since I don't have Poser to test out the creation
