The people that make the most noise are usually the people that care the most or are the most emotionally vested. The reason you don't hear so much from me anymore is because I care less and less. I found a place to go (which is dangerous for you guys because I'm one among many). With SM having their official forums for Poser and some people moving to DS and to the Daz forums, this place isn't as relevant as it used to be unfortunately. And the people that drift off aren't as likely to come back unless there's some huge effort to make the place feel "familiar" again. I'm not saying that to be mean. I'm just trying to be a realist ;).
As for the badges, I'm neutral. I don't mind/care one way or the other ;).

Thought this was about Badges, not about how great one site is over another? You get that comment at another forum so far often its so sad.
I think the badges are a good idea, maybe the idea needs a little more work before it is brought to fruition but it isn't like user concerns are going to be ignored.

Are you using GPU or CPU for your render? Maybe changing that may help? Go into render settings and under the advanced settings you will see where to click on them under hardware.
Thread: Are people still using V4? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"The one that started the mess was a Poser user, and always been. " --- Not so good to see that some things never change.
V4 is still a great figure, and the artists who have and still supply her with goodies are the best IMO. I've been gone from the hobby for a year or so and when I decided to return I was worried that I would find her support to be gone but she's still deeply rooted in the community, that must mean something, right? I think she deserves some props, for a figure that can be used in multiple platforms with very little work she is the perfect go to girl.
Continue creating for her and I will continue to buy.

I picked her up, although I always fall back to my Gen 4 figures I was interested in the Gia morphs for her. Got M6 a few weeks ago for a decent price so I wasn't targeted at first but to be honest now that I have the V6 part down I will probably invest more money into her then initially planned.
But as always M4/V4 stuff comes first and foremost. ;)

Hahaha. They wear down your resistance, don't they? :D
Wore it down then stomped on it quite a few times. :) Lol

Thread: "Take it to Sitemail" Campaign | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If only being close in the forums could make us a community of artists, but this is truly a problem that does not make an easy situation to diffuse or calm, which unfortunately is why theads get locked.
There are times that I have found my statements on forum sites to seem rude, or aggressive in tone when in all honesty that is not at all how I wanted it presented. If what I am saying warrants a "Sitemail" response I would rather someone tell me before things get out of hand. Sometimes I don't realize how my words can be misrepresented.
Nobody can see the person behind the posts, we lose that visual cue that we need to understand whether someone means aggression or not. Giving a little benefit of the doubt before we call a member a problem is a must if this idea goes to fruition.
:)
It is a good idea.
Thread: What makes V4 so popular? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - What do you think made V4 so popular? You can make the argumentt that she was a Daz figure, but you can make the same argument about Aiko and Stephanie Petite. You can make the argument that it was the mesh, but then why not the Aiko 4 or Stephanie 4 morphs for her?
Well. since you asked
IMVHO she was the best quality figure and the best supported figure for a long time. V4 also is currently the "best" figure (both in quality and support) that can be used in any version of Poser from 4 up, and in any version of DS. When she came out, she was considered by most users to be the most realistic figure available.
You also have to have V4 to use S4, Aiko 4, or G4. Most cloths that fit S4, A4, or G4, also fit V4 (actually, the cloths were suposed to be designed for V4, with morphs for the other figures to "work properly"), which kinda makes V4 the default figure that most of the content providors would create for, even if their goal was to create for the other figures.
Top notch quality, top notch support, and tons of images in the galleries made her popularity soar.
I gotta applaud that!
V4 had everything going right for her, and that continued on for years, it is very hard beat that kind of popularity.
Thread: So what happened to Dawn's fire ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Chris Creek is currently working on the Dusk figure. He's posted a few pics over on the Hivewire forum. He looks pretty good to me.
Really, sweet! Thank you for letting me know I'm going to go have a look :)

Quote - > Quote - This may have been mentioned before but when Dawn came out there was already this rush to move on to the Genesis figure as well and some customers were left bitter and confused by it all. Both introductions seemed rushed to me, almost as if they had to see who could bait the larger part of the customer base, though in that aspect Genesis did have the home field advantage.
From the standpoint of someone who was not sold on just one figure or the other at first the Daz line seemed more complete and supported then Dawn herself did. I did not know what was going to happen on either side, but as time went on it seemed Dawn's cycle of support kind of withered away while Genesis continued to get its fans and cheerleaders.
Hivewire seems to have some talented modelers, I don't believe that they are not a force to be reckoned with.
I haven't seen support for Dawn "wither" away, but I imagine that with the big build up Dawn received, and the excitement around her, some people have been somewhat disillusioned that she wasn't the Genesis killer a lot of people wanted her to be. But I still see the main brokerages selling things for Dawn, well, all except DAZ, of course. And a number iof the people who used to post here in support of Dawn have migrated over to the Hivewire forums. They still come here occasionally, but for the most part, I see them over there, happily supporting their favorite figure. So if you think support has "withered away", I just don't see it.
I see.
I've seen some things pop up for Dawn, the new products here and at another store were what made me decide to look into her a little more then before, and I was probably disillusioned as well by the same fact that you posted. Being a newer customer for this figure I haven't been so involved with her community so I did not realize that a number of her supporters moved to hivewire. I just remember her coming out strong and then things kind of calmed down on her behalf.
One thing that peaked my interest was the talk of the male counterpart. I hope that is still a possibility and I am really interested to see how he looks. :)

Quote - I think the scenario of DAZ buying Poser is highly unlikely.
A few days ago DAZ ran a huge sale on V4 and M4 stuff, calling it "cleaning house" or something like that. It could have been a sales tactic, but it made me worry. The discounts were good though, but I couldn't help wondering if they were serious about the cleaning house part of it, and if it meant that support for V4 and M4 would be discontinued any time soon.
A Daz team member assured us that the cleaning was nothing more then a sale name and not an actual removal of the items from the store. As they still have older stuff for the previous generations for sale I do not see them getting rid of the products anytime soon. But I did whittle down my wishlist from the store though, making progress feels great. lol
I just got Dawn's base figure recently, mainly because I am a doofus and failed to realize that Studio could run the figure even if I did not have an updated version of Poser to do so. But she seems decent enough, and from what I am seeing there are some good products including some great freebies, being released for her and the character sets are getting better. No disrespect intended.
At the time though I have not really used her much, been buying up my gen 4 wishlist stuff, working on upgrading to Gen 2 male, and needing to upgrade my Poser so she is falling back on my priority list.
There is just too much going on now, it was a ton easier when we didn't have to scatter our resources so much.
Hopefully she gains ground and starts to make a difference in the community.
