I do agree that after merest moments all the pathetic goobers who are using Poser to try to make up for being bottle-fed as babies can become annoyingly tedious. On the other hand, Renderosity's galleries are worth every penny I paid to take a look at them. I only regret the minutes wasted in confirming that such sad gits are as common as I already thought they were. I'm not an artist, nor do I pretend to be. I do dabble in modeling, although the past year or so I've taken a few steps back to get my old school paper and pencil draftwork and preliminaries up to snuff. It's amazing how important that still is. My wife, on the other hand, is an artist--actually, she's a mere "illustrator" according to the besotted nihilists who have taken it upon themselves to define "art" in our current era. But I just remember what Kelly said once when he commented on the difficulties my wife was having with her formal art professors. "If anybody understands it, it's just illustration. If anybody actually likes it, it's too commercial." Oh, yeah: POW! WHAM! HOOOOOOOOTERS! A little textual nudity and violence.

"Yep, they would respond by saying that they make their figures in Poser and then export the scene to Lightwave, Vue, or 3D Studio Max... programs that have excellent render engines. This is the way these artists work. So, why did CL put so much time, energy, and money into a new render engine that isn't even close to Lightwave or Vue? Just something to think about." I read this and looked over to the Mrs. (who's on our graphics cruncher) and asked her a little question: Now that she's been testing the P5 renderer, if she were to take something made in Poser and wanted to render it for a real final "gonna sell this one" format, would she use the new P5 renderer? Her answer was "No." She would still use Bryce. Oh, and to anyone who wants to question my right to not be an ass-kissing sycophant to Poser, try and make me.

I suggest you might want to contact the Tawahedo Church (Ethiopian Orthodox Church), since about 50% of Ethiopia's population is Orthodox Christian. If anybody can get a translation for you, it would be they. The Parish of Our Savior in NYC can be contacted at 570 Riverside Drive, Suite 9380, New York, NY 10031-9380. A directory of several Ethiopian Orthodox parishes can be found at http://www.eotc.faithweb.com/dire.html Your organization is, of course, sensitive to the ancient and revered place Ethiopian Orthodoxy has within Ethiopian culture (since roughly AD340 to the present day--yes, thats 340, not 1340). I do caution you, though. There are a lot of flakes and fakes who have adopted the name "Ethiopian Orthodox". Likewise, many Rastafarians claim they are "Ethiopian Orthodox", although Patriarch Paulos in Addis Ababa would certainly never recognize them as such--neither of these groups would likely know a bit of the languages you need.

Let's scare everybody, shall we, Mr. Fribble? According to my experience with several labs in several states, Airborne, is a very popular overnighter for biological sample shipment...
Thread: Non-Poser images in the gallery | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No, the point of the images posted was to troll. They were all very crudely done pastichiery (on the Fake Detective's standards, I'd have given the paste jobs at best C-). What is worse is that they all used copyrighted images without even bothering to credit the original sources. The amusing part is that they had no emotional impact upon me--except to incite me to roll my eyes at the crudeness of execution. They were just retouched soft-core porn, without the least bit of artistic impact. Quite amusing, given the prissy whining of their source about "art".
Thread: This is conforming? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Of course, all that re-furbishing and re-CR2ing shall be brought to a halt by the paranoia of new (and possibly unfounded and indefensible) intellectual property claims on the part of certain folks...
Thread: Poser artists | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have seen many of the works of the alleged "great artists". They don't move me. Therefore, they are not art. I have been far more deeply moved by arrythm of blade upon blade in a masterful tac-a-tac than by entire museums of so-called "art". Therefore, fencing is art, but that stuff hanging on those walls is not. Yes, it may have some sort of technical nuances and the acclaim of the effete, but it is still not art.
Thread: bum files | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The so-called "bum" file is really a Windows bitmap ("bmp") format with a different extension.

The SIMS is a sick and twisted sort of dollhouse that runs on the computer. At least it's sick and twisted when I play with it.

The *.pcf file is part of using Objaction Mover. That essentially gives an inert mesh. However, that still doesn't handle using it with Michael and Michael2. I can't save it as a morph within Poser, since I made heavy use of x/y/z dimension changes.

Alternatively, you could use the greyscale portion as a bump map (which is what it really is, after all). Thus, you free yourself up to use a variety of colorations. Remember the bump map!!! PS: That thar skin looks NEKKID ta me!
