Thread: Has anyone tested Poser 6, 7 or 8 on Mac OS 10.6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Dear fibbits - this is not the way and completely off topic. I am not starting a discussion, but your post is indecent.
Yes P7 and P8 run flawlessly under Snow Leopard.

The black spots go away when you raise the shading rate for the object and/or apply a tiny amount of displacement (but be sure to render with displacement on) - its only a solution where you dont have too much detail, like in cars, or when you use uniform shaders with simple colors etc.

lkendall I agree with you, but so far its the only advantage of 64 bit I see. Actually the benchmarks show that in many cases 32 bit engines render faster. Apparently this is a operating system problem, but it has not changed with the new windows.

Overall there is no performance gain in 64 bit rendering - this is what I suspected - you can use bigger files thats it

I could not find it, probably you know: Does anybody know a web page which actually shows benchmarks of 64 bit render engines compared to 32 bit render engines ?

Dont adjust your gamma (you will end up with unrealistic monitor settings for the system you have- its build for 1.8, you will give up your crisp display)- install all updates then it will run. Your problem is using external morph targets - switch it off in preferences. This was a problem for the early P7 version and has been fixed only partially in the updates. But by doing this it will run.

These days we simulated a lighting environment with tons of lights - the light sphere looked like a hedgehog

Try this: http://www.jscreenfix.com/basic.php. If it helps - ok - if not you have a hardware problem.

Question to bagginsbill: (just from curiosity)
Will TKinter still work or is it necessary to port existing Python scripts with TKinter to wxPython ?

Thread: I just got done rendering this. Took a day. Like 12 hours to render and would li | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I did not want to insult anybody - this was done in about 20 min without any tweaks - I just used an old light set and an old pose. But what I see basically in the galleries (even if they use "better" engines) just annoys me - its just postwork nothing else. Ice-boy sees a major Firefly flaw - shadows sometimes get washed out. You can correct this easily with a seperate shadow render.
I am quite for now - I have to paint the deck - and its huge - what a horror
