count me amongst the sick of poser as well... I was really wishing for better bones in this version.
Thread: Carrara 4! | Forum: Carrara
what I really want to know is : are there any improvements to the bones? I see the IK stuff - but the weight mapping is a huge pain, and you cant load or save custom weightmaps.

thats what I mean by elegant, what Khrys posted. He is muscular without looking toonish or like a caracature. David's muscularity is a perfect balance.
Thread: Where's "Byte Me Ok"? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
actually I did notice the nipples on Suzel came from a model photoset posted on 3d.sk. If she had a membership there (I do) then some parts are legit. I think she was using the Steffy textures as bases to fix seams, also cloning parts of them, but not all of them. Anyway - I like Khadiyah, still use it, but I did buy the Steffy texture Morgana/Midori to cover my ass. I find I use Morgana a lot now too. (though I did have to edit out the funny face wrinkles on the forehead that never did render quite right)

exactly Marque. David is his own guy. And all the other characters are their own as well. I own them all, use them all, depends on what and where.
Thread: New David - can we adapt? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
David isn't supposed to be an upgrade to M2. David is a different character - a petite male with good muscularity options. He's a great character and fills the bill perfectly for a figure fitting the 17-24 year old age group. The Milboys never hit that agegroup and I'm glad that David has. I use M2 often, when I need a rather scruffy muscleman. And I really do like David, for different reasons. M2 does a great hairy manboob guy but I don't always want a hairy manboob muscleman - that is not reality of what most men look like. M2 looks weedy however if you try to make him lean. And M2 really lacks a lot in his back and doesn't have the lower abs and hips that David has. If you look at a Greek statue, you will see what I mean. I'm here looking it up in my anatomy book - its called the flank pad and the Iliac furrow... moves down into the groin. Take a look at a Greek statue and you'll see what I mean about the flap of muscle there - it is distinctive all the way up to Michaelangelo's David. That's not on M2 - in fact he lacks mesh density in that area, and its a place where I'm going to subdivide and cut a bit more with my Stephanie. David has that Greco-Roman elegance of musculature combined with perfect proportionality which will make him a lot more useful to me than M2. I can make him a wider variety of characters than I can M2. M2 is a great mesh but it needs work to do some of the things that David does effortlessly. As does the Unimesh to do some different things. Neither is perfect - they do different things well. It just depends on what you are trying to do. I have my own opinions on the subject, I have always thought Stephanie 1 was superior to Vicky 1/2, and I've been cutting on Stephanie lately to make her more to my liking. Nobody is stopping anyone from doing the same to M2.

Thread: bump.bum problem in transposer | Forum: Carrara
depends on the bum file - if its a converted bum that has the inverted green channel, you're going to get some weird results from it by doing that - with the bump going the wrong direction in areas, etc. It is a common problem in PPP and P5 renders when they use the old bum files.
Thread: bump.bum problem in transposer | Forum: Carrara
I've noticed that Transposer doesn't understand the .bum file format of Poser 4x. Remove all the .bum files from your scene and it will import without trouble. .bum files can be converted to jpg or tif (I think the green channel is inverted in them if I remember correctly) and can be converted to grayscale and then used as a regular bump map.

Right c1rcle - I've bought products from Anton in the past. :) My gallery is a good proof of that, in fact. The people I interact with on a daily basis - if I even mention the word Renderosity - the reaction is either "recoil" or "huh?" I don't ascribe more importance to myself or to the community than I should. Most people who visit these sites, don't care about these squabbles and don't look in the forums, and not even in the Marketplace. They come to oggle the galleries. Keep it all in perspective - none of this really matters to the majority of non-poser users who never come in here. But the overall perception of the merchant community by customers (and I'm a customer, not a merchant) is getting worse and worse. Its not a trend any merchants should be encouraging. I've gotten sick of it because it encourages bad service and bad behaviour - after being stuck by that and watching a few meltdowns - I've lost most of my faith in that part of the hobby. I'm not alone.

I considered your IMs to me as passive aggressive attacks making my posts out to be something they weren't. You accused me of attacking Merriyn. And I had not done so. I consider that an attack. Then the rlhedges2002 personal attack occurred right afterward. I guess that's one of the 12 people out of what... 2000 active Poser members in the community that didn't vocalise any support for you? And even more on other communities who never come to post in the Poser forums or galleries - that dont know who you are, do not care either? Do not even care about this argument? Excuse me while I colour myself unimpressed by the statistics. And laugh. And move on. All you've done here Anton - is prove that nobody should talk to you - because you'll lie to twist a situation to support you when it does not. You lied about rlhedges2002, when you knew damn well that post existed. You lied about me editing a post I never edited. Who exactly is a liar? Ask yourself.
Thread: PhoenixRising, DAZ, and Thoughts | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have no customers or sales to lose here c1rcle. I'm not a merchant. Just someone who disagreed with Anton. And accused of being a liar, the second coming of Satan, and so forth. The usual around here, yanno? The perverts that look at my art could care less about Anton - probably don't even know who he is, and don't care. But thanks for the sentiments. I'm done with the thread now.

I'm not lying at all. I saw "OMG". Your post was edited. I'm quite frankly amazed you'd insist I'm lying about a post that's not been edited, and any platinum club member can go look at to see that it hasn't been. I'll forward this link to the DAZ mods, though - since you're insisting on it. I made two responses to your edited posts. One to the original OMG - which talked about your self inflated opinions. And the post about where you told me to reread what I said - and that was quite cordial to you. The posts are in the forum for everyone to see. Many people commented on it. I never edited that post about the "self-important opinions" in question. The post I did edit talked about the technical aspects of layering, not about the nastiness going on in this community. The nastiness you continue to spew. You'll just have to live with yourself one way or another. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Its a general feeling I get from the merchant community at large. Not every merchant - but Anton copping the attitude before my post was what broke my back. Kendra is correct - it was a situation of watching someone claim a technique was invented new when it was not. When Anton posted "OMG" ... I took it as sarcasm and putting on airs - right or wrong, that's how I took it. I think I've just had enough of the Poser wars recently. I've been around 3d since 99 and CGI since 93 - I was a bit stunned when he insisted a technique was new when it was something I'd seen done before in other places. That's all. I didn't think you said that you invented it - only that Anton claimed you did. People have a tendency to exaggerate things - and you were never the target. I'm really sorry if you felt that way, it was completely not intended.
