The xenofex filter arallegro's talking about is okay. But you get random lightning patterns. What I'd do is draw a lightning bolt in the shape ( with a black fill) i like in a vector program like coreldraw, export it as tiff, open it in photoshop, copy it to my target image as a new layer, refill it in he color I want, add blurs, and basically fiddle around with it's opacity and maybe even add new layer copies of it for different effects. Play around with the layer blending options until you get the effect you want. Then, I go in with the dodge and burn tool on the background image to simulate the lightning's light effects on the clouds. It's pretty tedious but this way, you get the exact lightning streak you'd imagine. But then again, if random streaks are what you need, go the simpler route and get xenofex's filter. By rendering it on different layers first, you could probably get a streak that would serve your purpose. hope this could be of help.
Thread: Seriously, how good is PhotoShop at... | Forum: Photoshop
Most of the crew are right about photoshop and painter being designed differen tly for different purposes. Personally however, I've been using photoshop to paint images -- the problem is that, unlike painter whose brush tools are already made and designed to look like natural media, you'll have to predesign everything with photoshop. That means scanning in "brush looks", resizing, testing opacity, etc. As an alternative, how about using coreldraw's Photopaint? I use both Painter 6 and Photopaint and I find Photopaint a tad bit easier to use as well as easier on my system's resources.

great model! I second the opinion that the face be a bit more "beautiful" -- kinda like classical latin without the curly hair. Seems like we all have problems with making characters available. I have a couple of hobbits, dwarves and a wizard or two that i'd like to post but like balaan, i really don't have a clue on how to post them for download.

Thread: I really need Knights! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There's a Norman knight by John Malis down at fairywoods. Plus, cache force has a roman soldier, although it's the "hollywood" roman legionaire.

Thread: Need a Helmet | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think you're looking for a norman conical helm (bullet-shaped with a nose guard) or maybe a spangelhelm (bullet shaped, nose guard plus cheek guards). Used one on my Norman Knight model (the pic's in my gallery if you'd like to check it out). I could send you a dxf file if you're interested. Also saw another model at fairywoods, on another norman knight.

Just an addendum folks: i downloaded the evaluation copy from lycos and forgot one of the simplest rules of downloading: trust no one ( cue x-files theme). There are probably trojan horse copies of Macafee's programs out there and it pays to be extra wary. Nevertheless, I'm still sticking with my old Macafee Viruscan 4 and hitting the delete key with the Viruscan 32 v.5 selected.

Fantastic! THis is a refreshing change from all the sexy stuff that's out there for the p4woman -- something for the p4man! How about adding a morph for balloon sleeves, like the kind pirates have? Great work!
