Its encouraging to hear from someone doing the same journey in reverse. You obviously know of the difficulty of approaching something thats simple in one format but completely baffling in another. In DS I can simply do whatever I want, so as an example, I put together this image in about 10mins and rendered it in iRay, which took about an hour. To explain my machine does not have Nvidia graphics and could fight its way out of a wet paper bag, so the actual rendering time could be reduced hugely if I spent about a million pounds. One day, maybe I can do something this acceptable in superbly with Poser, I can but hope...

Rhia474, I have to first apologise because I didn't notice the highlighting which certainly made all the difference. It doesn't help my not having 20/20 vision any longer. Had I noticed the highlights I would not have had to ask for more assistance. Next I have to thank RedPhantom and NikKelly for the clarity of their explanations. I have managed to actually do a render which I pure rubbish, but as its my first ever Poser image, its a kind of Landmark. Thank you all for the help, much appreciated...

I am a bit thick im afraid because I am not sure what your message is. I think that it may be better to just play around and see where I get because all the tutorials I see, and there are plenty, are excellent on the tech detail. but very light of the simple click this and this happens kind of guidance that many dimwits like me need. Two things you need to know, you probably cant break it by clicking around, but if you do break it, you can always re install it if that will let you start again...

My thanks to hborre for the suggestions. I downloaded the install manager and installed DSON though I have yet to manage to make sense of how to use it. I think there may be a problem with the install because I get this error message... Screenshot 2020-04-19 at 22.34.23.png and while some of my Daz content appears, all V4 content I think, I have yet to manage to get genesis. I have to admit that I am floundering with the complexity of folders and where to direct DIM to load content.

I understood that, what I cannot do is open it to run or install it, I have downloaded it again from DS to make sure its the most up to date version and what I get is this message...

Thank you for the effort you are making to explain his to me. Thing is I have the DSON importer for Poser and I can't open it, which I as far as I can get. I am assuming that once opened I will have to do some work to get the thing working, but until I open it I have no idea what to do...

I am grateful for the help offered here, but not quite smart enough to understand it. Following the link from donned gets me to page not found, and surely the object of DSON is to allow Poser users to import Genesis content into Poser, thereby increasing the sales potential of Daz creators. I don't actually follow what is being suggested in the reply from hborre. Do you mean I should replicate the DS content folder inside the Poser library... and if I can't see the DS content what's the point? Lastly I can't seem to install the DSON thing anywhere, so what should I do to use the Genesis content I Have inside Poser...

Seems to me lights are already there in the version I have... but thank you for the illuminating reply....

In my limited experience it would be better if developers were provide updated versions of software when they release a new version. Its just so annoying to see videos, however good they mat have been, that tell you how to do something step by step and somewhere along the way you have to give up because the step they are suggesting is not possible in the version you have. Be nice to have the manuals updated with notes for changes to each new version at least...

Edit>gereral preferences library tab check the box for refresh on launch. That did the trick, thank you....

OK installed the fix again in total and that's that sorted. Now I find that the library has no content at all, and I have no idea how to add content so maybe its back to studying the manual. Seem to me that this upgrade is causing me, and maybe others, more problems that take time to figure out...
