Maybe you could have a configurable option and have Facebook be an "opt-in" kind of thing that a user could then elect and choose to view?
I don't have a Facebook account, but it still doesn't stop Facebook from setting a tracking cookie with a unique ID following me around the Internet.
Something to consider.
The more I learn of Facebook's abhorrent privacy practices the more I concerned I get when I come across Like buttons and login dialog boxes being thrust down my throat.
I can't imagine I'm alone in this regard.
But, if it was something that I could choose to opt-in for (the site's coded in PHP, right? So based on a flag set in the user database if I elect to choose Facebook then only then do you: include('facebook_feature.inc'); in the appropriate spot in the marketplace templates.
Something to consider.

Thread: Poser Pro 2012 Runtime question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Definitely put the Poser runtime on an external drive. Â App on C:, runtime on external (R: or P: seems like a logical choice.)
Start -> Run -> diskmgmt.msc is what you're looking for to force Windows to never change the drive letter.

It's an intriguing idea. (And not just because I've got a Mac, too.) Almost sounds like you're creating a story board for a movie. Have you heard of Plasq's "Comic Life"? Hands-down the best comic book creator software out there, bar none. And there's no need to worry about ink. You could always release your comic as a PDF. ;-)

Thread: The Right To Delete | Forum: Suggestion Box
But did it ever occur to you that perhaps that Renderosity isn't high-up on the user's priorities? That they have a life that exists outside of the galleries and forums?
Don't get me wrong, I understand where you're coming from, but to me it is just short of hacking to allow another account to be able to modify my account settings.
I, personally, have about 4 or 5 different accounts that I routinely use. One to purchase items under, one where I submit my more general artwork, and one where I submit more controversial artwork. Mind you, I don't always use the same userid across all the various different sites.
And even here, at Renderosity, I have several people in my favorite artists categories under the respective accounts. You know what? Not one have I left a comment for.
And if someone sent me an email demanding a comment or a response to their work I would be so turned off by it that you wouldn't have to delete me from my favorites. I'd do it for you, right along with some colorful and curt metaphors as I remove the item.
I mean, seriously... if you don't want your work to be stolen, don't put it up.
Watermark your images if you're so afraid.
You say you would only delete somebody after careful consideration and examination, but what of those who wouldn't?
If you really want to see your galleries removed from someone's favorites list then the appropriate action to me would seem to contact Rendo staff and request that they intervene and remove you.
Think of the support problems that would be generated to Renderosity if people suddenly started removing themselves from people's favorites. Some might think Rendo got hacked.
i know you're just trying to curb copyright theft, but the way you're going about it is the wrong way.
In my opinion if Rendo were to implement what you suggest then they might as well just do away with the favorite artist feature all-together.

Ok... Hmmmm.... I add you to my favorites, but if I don't leave you any comments you might confront me? If I don't respond you then remove me from my favorites? Hmm... What's the logic in this? I should not be compelled to comment on or respond to anyone who is in my favorites. Freedom of speech is just as important as freedom from speech. I do have a right to remain silent, even if I'm not being arrested.

Quote - no browse by catagory : you have to search, but unless you know what you are looking for to enter into the search engine...
Seconded. > Quote - search engine still buggy and brings up non relevant responses
Seconded. Perhaps freebie authors should be permitted to include "keywords" which can be searched on as wel? I know that didn't exist before but it seemed like before the search engine included the text from the notes/ details text before when coming up with its results. it doesn't appear to be doing that today. > Quote - no abilty to focus on what is relevant : Eg I don't have Max, Lightwave, Mojo - the abilty to filter these responses out would be a major step forwards.
Agreed. > Quote - Nudity Filter on be default : To hard to link that to the overall filter setting in our profiles??
Double, triple, and quadrupled agreed. In fact, the nudity feature is what brought me to the forums in the first place today because I kept on seeing "image filtered because of nudity" or somehting to that effect and I was like I would have never turned that on and couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Having that option be under "My Freestuff" is totally the wrong place to have it. My Freestuff to me is for freestuff that I've uploaded. This option should be one the member's profile or account settings page (perhaps tied into a global "Show nudity?" bit flag).

I gotta say, I agree with most others around here when I say the redesign of the freebies section has made things seriously worse. It leads me to believe that there was absolutely no user acceptance testing of the new design, and what we have now is what happens when programmers are left to their own devices to design a user interface. In fact, it's not just the freebies area. Something seriously has happened over the last several months to Renderosity. The whole site, from navigation to searching to browsing has become increasinly more complicated. All I can say is thank God 'osity is part of Content Paradise. (And I'm not too thrilled with CP's redesign for Siggraph either but for different reasons).

As the host of PoserHome, anyone is free to use the freebie hosting features, provided items are somehow related to Poser or DAZ Studio. There are no bandwidth limits. Free web hosting is also available (for non-commercial sites), too.

Thread: I Hate the New Marketplace | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have to agree. The new Marketplace blows. And I don't mean in a good way! I hate it partly because navigation is on the right instead of the left. The past few weeks I, too, have purchased from CP, Daz, and Runtime DNA as opposed to here.
