I believe this message is caused by the installer not properly setting some registry settings, like version numbers and whatnot. The DAZ installers in question are probably not Windows Vista/7 compliant.
Based on my experience, it's generally not a problem. If the installer itself doesn't report any errors, you can usually go ahead and click "This program installed correctly".
Thread: Anyone using 3D scanners? | Forum: Vue
I'm kind of interested in these things. I just bookmarked this today:

Looks cool, but unfortunately, taxes will suck this year, so unless anybody wants to loan me $2500...
Anyway, what's the current status on non-laser 3d digitizers? The only one I know about are the Microscribe ones, and they have gotten ECK-SPEN-SIVE! So unless I learn some electronics and whatnot and build my own, that's out of the question, too.
It's not that I NEED one of these things, they're just cool.

Quote - This might be an archaic reference, but we are talking about a day and age where the word "God" has been omitted from the the Pledge of Allegiance and the term "In God We Trust" is removed from our currency.
FYI, this hasn't officially happened yet, unfortunately.
Thread: Carrara 5 now available at DAZ! | Forum: Carrara
I'm thinking the smart thing for Daz to do would be to wait until the $1.99 Hexagon 2 deal is over at the end of May, THEN have some PC deal for Carrara Studio 5. This way, they can get an extra month of PC fees from people interested in both (like me).
Thread: Ebots when you haven't replied? | Forum: Community Center
Did you click the "Preview Reply" button somehow? I was looking at the reply box, wondering how much of the toolbars are being cut off at the right, and noticing that you can drag the toolbar components onto the reply edit area itself, and I clicked the Preview Reply button to see what it would look like. Then I just clicked the browser's Back button to get back to the main forum (never actually posting the reply), but since the "Notify me when someone replies" checkbox was checked, just the act of previewing the reply turned on the notifications. Something doesn't seem right there.
Thread: A few remarks about the new forum format | Forum: Community Center
A "Show New Posts" feature probably wouldn't be as necessary if the threads were sorted by last post instead of first post. Then all of the threads with new posts will be at the top of the lists no matter what. Why would the threads be sorted by first post by default in the first place?
Quote - "But if you use the "Mark all read" it will ...well.. mark all read, even if you're not done reading them all. A "Show New Posts" would do just that - show you new posts that might have arrived WHILE you were reading another one. So here's another vote for that feature. I think people who buys a Bondware Forum would also expect that to be present - after all it is in all standard PHPFORUMS so why not here?"

Be sure to do some checking before buying some discounted things. I had the "Complete David Bundle" on my wish list, but with the new savings, buying each component of the bundle separately is a little over US$5 cheaper ($69.97 vs $64.62).

Of course, there's the little factoid that the anti-video game crusaders like to ignore - that youth violence has steadily been going down for some years now, and among some age groups, is at an all-time low.Thread: Is it possible to get a 2D background in Model mode? | Forum: Carrara

Unisys owns the patent to the LZW compression scheme used in GIF (and TIFF) files. Developers had to pay a licensing fee to Unisys in order to use GIF/LZW encoding/decoding in their applications. The patent expired last year world-wide, so GIF is now fair game, as far as I can tell.Thread: visual studio .net tutorials | Forum: Community Center

Quick sidetrack, Re: "I've been trying to get a redistributable of MSVCP71D.DLL" Sounds like someone got you the debug version of the filter. "MSVCP71D.DLL" is a debug runtime library, and not legally redistributable. I would get in contact with whomever made/distributed the plugin and get the right version.
