I use Max for my modeling, and I'm happy with it. One piece of advice though, my first clothing was a skirt model, and it's taken me a horribly long time to get it close to done. Try catsuits, slacks, and jacket/shirts first! Good luck!
Thread: how do you make clothes conform propperly? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've been working on this in my spare time for 3 months. Believe me, it's an education! Good luck, and hope it goes well!

I know I download textures, so that I can see how much detail and how people did the work. I don't have Mike or Vicki, but I do have some of the better free-stuff for them to get ideas on how others do the maps and texturing.

oops, it was actually Greylight's site. Take a look, and see if these will help.Thread: problem with a conforming skirt model | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OK Jeff, I tried taking the skirt and saving it into the library to create a CR2. I modified the CR2 to point to my original OBJ. I reloaded a P4NW, and then added the new skirt back into the picture. Same problem still occurs. In addition, the skirt starts off above and to the right of the nude model. I feel like I'm missing something basic. I've reviewed Nerd's tutorial, and some others, and I cannot see what it is. Joey

I think it was site.yahoo.com/happyworldland, but the page is down today. It may have moved in the last two months. Sorry, I'll check my archives and see if that's the braids I was thinking of. I should have the author's name, and maybe you can find him/her on this site.

I cannot find my notes tonight, but I think I saw a lot of braided hair on a site called "Happyland". Does anyone here remember that site? I'll try to find it again tomorrow in my notes, and reply then.

Thanks Jeff. I looked, and my CR2 doesn't have any OBJ references in it. The .pz3 file did have obj references in it. I tried your suggestion there, but it didn't work. I wonder if I was looking at the wrong file. Did you really mean the conforming CR2 file?

I've been doing what PhilC recommends, hand-building meshes and comparing my file-size for similar objects to the models and props shipped with Poser. I feel that as long as I'm under or near a similar object, I'm probably OK. My models have very comparable render times so far on mid-ranged laptops and desktops.

Rubio, The girl on the right in Black looks very photographic, the lighting and face (to my poor eyes), looks so human. Keep up the great work, it's awesome!

I use Zone Alarm and it works fine for me on my modem. I'm on sometimes for 2-3 hours, and sure enough, you get several pings of various types in that time.
Thread: Need opinions... "Drow" texture | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I no longer have my D&D book, but I remember the Drow as "stretched"; taller than human, thinner than the test shot here, and very emaciated. Great skin, I like it!

I just pulled this about 12:00 noon, MST in the US, and it worked fine from bizland. Course I had a T1 available for a couple minutes and that helped immensely. Good luck!

Thread: Poser to Max question: | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I usually blow my models up by 10,000 so that I can get a very easily editable mesh. I start by making the model a "copy" in Max, and then blow up the copy. That way, I can edit the big version, and then do an "export selected" of the small copy. That was one of the best tricks I got from the tutorials. Good Luck!
