What you can do is tell them you won't be punished for being a loyal user when their "anti-piracy" measures will only hamper your ability to use the content you pay for. meanwhile the methods they describe to prevent privacy might do little more then delay it, but it far from stops it. Poser are you watching? You should be; Remember when QuarkXPress was king of desktop publishing and InDesign was struggling for a life preserver?

I guess I can't edit the post above:
...which is strange they put it here as it is a Blender file but it's objs for Poser and Studio as well.

I did place it there, someone placed it here. I thought they removed my post until I just stumbled on it now.

Lux does this too, and I can change the intensity of individual lights as I render which is kinda nice.
Thread: Daz3D forum caution when discussing IRay documentation. | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Just FYI - The documentation is being diligently worked on. Several things have been added and more are coming. :)

Huh?... Is there a secret documentation page that only select people get to access? I just checked the Wiki ( http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/interface/panes/render_settings/engine/nvidia_iray/start ) and there's been NO change to it in the months since IRay and Daz 4.8 came out.
It's being diligently worked on soon.

without an Nvidia video card on an dual Xeon Quad (8/16) 2.6GHz., 64GB RAM, Radeon HD 5770 with 1GB DDR5 (which Iray has no use for) it took 32 minutes to render a pair of glasses with two lights, so a plastic default shader used twice, once with a transparency at 1024x768 No other geometry in the scene. I was able to get better results out of LuxRender in 4 minutes.
If your using a decently powerful system without "a good nvidia card" expecting 10 minutes for a "reasonable" scene is not a realistic result. The engine was developed for Nvidia cards to take advantage of it, not CPU and RAM, they are an afterthought.
Secondly Dual socket is exclusively XEON when it comes to Intel CPU architecture,. You can't run two i7's at the same time on the same board, it doesn't exist.
Thread: Daz Studio 4.8: should I just not bother? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
there were additional improvements, not limited to Iray, including a faster and updated version of 3Delight. Iray will work without an Nvidia GPU, it is designed to function "properly" through the CPU with the same quality as GPU albiet not as fast provided you had a high end GPU to begin with. In other words a 1.6 GHz Core 2 CPU with 1GB RAM and the most basic of integrated video cards could render an Iray scene within reason, the faster the CPU and the more RAM the more complex that scene could be all without ever adding any CUDA enabled Nvidia GPU.
I use V4/M4 in 4.8 and the function as well as they did in any previous version and the Memory requirements are still 1GB RAM, 2GB recommended, and anything past that is your discretion. 4.8 appears to be a bit more stable than 4.7. I was reluctant and kept my 4.7 installers just-in-case but at this time I don't think I have reason to downgrade.

post production work for still images is a very common part of the workflow. You can spend countless hours of re-rendering or bring it into Photoshop, GIMP or Painter and do things the rendering software would otherwise be incapable of doing or require hours of setup or both.

anyone know where I can find Chinese food models/props for DazStudio? I'm always looking for something I can set on a table and looks like people are eating a meal, not standing around one thats untouched.

Quote - > Quote - In win7 you can use readyboost to supplement your ram if you don't have the means to buy more ram. This means use a fast usb drive to supplement your ram. If you do have the means do upgrade your ram and operating system to win7 64bit to work on complex scenes and have multiple programs open in a bridge.
32 bit can still only address no more than 4GB regardless, even on a 64 bit computer, running a 64 bit OS even if you have 8TB of RAM. Bryce can only address 2 GB of RAM and if you open DS from Bryce, that still has to fit within those same 2GB. Windows will spool and use that full 4 GB of RAM, presuming it has free HD space.
4 GB RAM Max with a 3GB switch in Windows meaning a large address aware app like Daz Studo will see a max of 3GB RAM even when 4GB is installed just FYI.
This is how it works in case you want to read
http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-enable-a-3GB-switch-on-Windows-Vista-Windows-7-or-Windows-XP-s.html
Blender may be another option but it's a jack of many trades and requires you to get to know the interface pretty well before you can render Yosimite valley. Bryce seems to be falling further from Daz3d's rader latley so I'd be suprised if we see a re-write of it anytine soon.
