Thread: Poser Pro Figure Setup | Forum: Poser Technical
Hello, I followed your instructions, but the JPs get very screwed up and turning off the spherical falloffs doesn't seem to help. I tried this using the vicky 2 p4 model, by the way. The whole thing also seems kind of off center (I.e. hair props don't line up on z axis properly, figure centers seem off). Do you have any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong? Thanks, Matt Baucco
Thread: background image sketch renders... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello, Don, I tried your tutorial, but it still doesn't create a high rez sketch. It just makes an image the size of the studio window, though it does seem to alter the print settings (I.e. it makes a 372 x 469 image that will print at 300 dpi, which is about half an inch across). I set the render settings to 3 times the studio winodw size and the dpi to 288 before opening the sketch window, but it does not sketch in a new window. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, Matt
Thread: mason tutorial with Compose? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think using a multi figure CR2 and morphs on the clothing is the best way to go for me, as I don't think I'll be animating these figures. Since I am using the standard "superhero" body morph on the P4 male, I can create a full body morph for the clothing item and then save it to the library and re-use it. If anyone is interested, I'll be happy to post the morphs when I am finished. Thanks Again, Matt

Thanks to everyone, once again, for your insights into a baffling (at least to me) process. I know that you can now save multi-figure CR2s (thanks Jaager), but I am just not getting good results from the conforming clothes, they always poke out and refuse to conform properly, even if I am careful to zero the figure before adding clothes. Also, I can not use the clothes with a morphed figure. For instance, if I apply the "superhero" full body morph to the P4 poser guy, none of the clothes will fit, and I can't scale them to make them fit. The clothes scale strangely once they are conformed, and you can not scale them before conforming, as they snap back to their original size when you "fit" them to a figure. Perhaps I am going about this the wrong way, and there is a better way to put clothes on these models without merging the meshes or using multi-figure CR2s. If so, please let me know. I am working on a web comic, and I really want it to look as good as my limited artistic skills allow. Thanks again everyone! Matt Baucco
Thread: mason tutorial with Compose? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello, Thanks for the help so far, I may be getting a little closer. Here is what I did: 1. opened the p4 nude man obj file 2. opened the mens jeans obj file and clicked the "merge" checkbox in the open dialogue Now, do I have to use the "merge" button on each object? I.e. click on the two rThigh objects and merge them, then the lThigh objects and merge them, etc.? Or do I just click the "save items" button and save it as a new .obj file? Thanks, Matt
Thread: mason tutorial with Compose? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yes, compose itself works perfectly, it is just that I am not having any luck how to combine meshes the way mason does in his tutorial. I have spent three days searching the web for tutorials that show how to use compose to combine meshes, but have had no luck. thanks, Matt
Thread: carrara and compose... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello, I actually skipped the Carrara part and have solved the problem. I discovered that importing the .obj files into poser with only "make polymesh normals consistent turned on" will allow you to position and export the clothing item without any weiredness. Just import your base object file (p4 nude man/woman) then place the prop or clothing item and export that. Then merge them in compose and you have a figure with clothes that don't wig out too badly. I could make a tutorial if anyone thinks this would be useful to know. Thanks for all your help, Matt Baucco
Thread: carrara and compose... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the help, that solved one problem, but created a new one. Here is a more detailed explanation: I imported the p4 nude man obj file into poser, then exported it as an obj file. I then exported the baseball cap as an object and opened them in Carrara with auto-scaling and auto-position off. After arranging the hat so it was on his head, I exported the hat as hat.obj, then opened it in poser with centering off and re-exported it as an obj file. Next, I opened the nude man object file from my runtime folder in compose and read in the hat object file I made. I merged the head and hat, then wrote a new file called hatman.obj. I checked the object file to make sure the names were okay, then made a hatman.cr2, based on the p4 nude male.cr2, replacing the paths with the new path for my object. Now the hat and head are combined, but the hat sits in the middle of his head instead of on the top of his head where I put it. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? I don't know if it is a setting in Carrara or poser or compose or whether the moon is too close to the earth or something. If I had hair, I would be tearing it out right now. Thanks, Matt Baucco
Thread: Q: mason's combine tutorial with rds/carrara | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello, I will post an image tomorrow, I forgot to bring the file with me to work. I am using the p4 nude male and the men's vest (blmvest.obj). I based the cr2 off a copy of the p4 nude man cr2 and then edited it in the cr2 editor. I didn't change anything in the object except combining the two figures into one. Thanks Again, Matt Baucco

nope, the figure looks great until I try to pose him, then his fingers and legs stretch out like taffy. I can post an image if you like. Thanks, Matt Baucco
Thread: Q: mason's combine tutorial with rds/carrara | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello, I tried your suggestion and made my figure in poser, then exported it as an obj and set it up in Compose, renaming the parts and merging the eyes and head, then re-exporting to OBJ. This fixed all my previous problems, but now my poor fellow's extremities (fingers and legs) are all stretched like taffy. I checked the storageOffset to make sure they were all 000 like the tutorial says, but that didn't help, so I went through the OBJ file and CR2 with a text editor. Still no luck. Has this ever happened to anyoneelse, and if so, can anyone help my poor ignorant self towards a solution? Thanks for all your patience, Matt Baucco
Thread: Q: mason's combine tutorial with rds/carrara | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I fixed the textures, though there is a white line or seam on the guy, and the vest is still transparent, though it renders solid. My only big problem now is that the vest is lumpy where the groups meet at the chest<->abdomen and abdomen<-> hip. If someone could advise me on how I might fix this, I would be very grateful. Thanks again, Matt Baucco

Hello, Would you upload the riding boots to the Poser Stuff when you finish them? I too am looking for good footwear for my Posette. Hope I am not violating any etiquette by asking. Thanks in Advance, Matt Baucco
