Tom,
I would ask this at the DAZ 3D forum.
I was contemplating on buying one of the block series to use in DAZ studio since these products look great and lot's of poser content works well in IRAY. The textures can become to shiny but that is easy to undo.

@gator762
Just give daz studio a try i did as a long term poser use heavily invested in v4 items and i do not regret it. IMHO the G3 figures are a lot better then anything for a reasonable price on offer. With some tweaking you can use V4 clothing, hair, shoes. You can also use most of the other poser content that you purchased. You will not need to buy new iray shaders for all of your poser stuff. WM poser figures will lose the WM in DS and textures for characters will not always work good in IRAY.
Daz studio takes some getting used to but it is not that hard.
I am still using poser to, it depends on what i want to create.

"WM poser figures" - You mean weight mapped?
I'm meaning to give DAZ Studio a whirl, as I want to give Genesis 3 a try. It's good to hear I can use a good portion of V4 content. I'm sure if I go and use it, I'll still use Poser for V4. For DAZ, the question will be Iray or Octane.
Yes i meant weight mapped.

**I have yet to see what g3f adds to the table other than a fat chick myself. There certainly isn't much in the way of character variety (or volume). It's still the same generic early 20's Northern Caucasians. A fair bit of the clothing is just recycled V4 (or earlier, in the case of shoes) content. **
I would suggest that you try G3F (it is free) before you state this. It is obvious that you have not done this.
I have yet to see a figure at this price point that offers such control, quality bending and morphing.

To return back on topic.
I would applaud more quality content for Pauline, Dawn, Anastacia,..... and also for G3F.
Indeed there is a lot offered for G3F if you only want strapped bikinis, leather underwear, textures for the same items, ridiculous oversexed poses. I used to spend a lot of money buying content but these days, no. Why would i? Very rarely something worthwhile is offered.
Same thing at DAZ variations on the same characters variations of skimpy clothing, ok there are exceptions as there are on renderosity.
Ah i started using daz studio because of the G3 models, please do not start a debate over poser vs daz, please........! I am still a poser user also and looking forward to the erogenesis character.
There are talented vendors:
blackhearted awsome content, would like to see a blackhearted Pauline version.
stonemason working for daz but great artist
erogenesis
hivewire have you seen the horse character?
powerage
hongyu
outoftouch ok very skimpy stuff but quality
bluetreestudio
greenpots
xameva these days over @ renderotica
there are lot's more
I really have nothing against skimpy clothing or poses, i just would like to have some other content to.
Ok as a content maker you have to make a profit so there is a lot more work on making a model like the "London" scene by stonemason offered @ daz the price is high (but it sells) as a consumer i am willing to pay this premium price. I am willing to pay more for stuff made by powerage because it is clearly so much more complex then the other stuff on offer.
Or is there really no demand for these kind of items in that case the problem is caused by us (in general) the end users. Has there been a shift in users demand?
On the bright side i am spending a lot less now.

@Michaelwhatever, It still is a helpful forum, I help people all the time. More than you. As a matter of fact the only help I see being contributed by anyone else is simply regurgitations of what I've already said. Reread the thread comments to confirm.
It's ok i love you to. My name is Michel.

This used to be a helpful forum.
@Cyberdyne V4 WM (weightmapped) is a lot better and i also use X&M's perfect V4 stuff. Lali's bits from erogenesis available @ renderotica.com works also great.
But do not expect perfection V4 is an old model, G3F from daz 3d bends a lot better. Erogenesis is working on "project E" for poser looks promising, there are some threads about this on this forum and @runtimedna.com .
Thread: Making the switch from Poser Pro 2014 to DAZ Studio Pro | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Victoria 7 was the reason that i started using daz studio but i stil use poser pro 2014 to. I like firefly rendering it has a certain painteresque thing but for realism i prefer iray.
I do not think that SM is abandoning poser but there marketing and market research are not very great and that is an understatement. You will not get love on this forum for your post, you are touching a very sensitive topic.
Just do it if you want to start using daz studio, there are a lot of supportive people at the daz forums as there are people very helpful at this forum.

So this all is kind of an ego thing on behalf of the SM people according to the last posts. IF that is true it sucks.

Just checking the marketplace here on Renderosity and find very little other than Genesis figures and supporting do-dads. Kinda makes it an industry standard don'cha think. As an old (emphasis on Old) poser user I've resisted Studio since learning new stuff is hard at my age and ignoring Genesis isn't helping my loyalty. SM recalcitrance only hurts their market share. And "Party Hack" boo hoo's help even less. Don't like the complaint quit the complaints and help fix the problem or watch Poser slip to an distant also ran as far as the very lucrative amateur market is concerned. with the advent of Reality, Iray and other third party helpers for our use I can't see where P11 offers people like me a good reason to up grade. If SM had fixed this problem I would have jumped on it. As an added thought I personally am not happy with DAZ dominance but if you look around you lots of people have jumped on the bandwagon producing great products for the amateur. DAZ is NOT leading from behind like or not.
I have the same opinion as you and i am also an "old" poser user. These topics always end with comments like "discussed many times, get over it", "you do not have the real poser attitude", "start using daz studio".
Integrated daz studio support it is not going to happen. So although i am 56 years old and i was not looking forward to start using DAZ studio, out of frustration i started using daz studio. O it was frustrating in the beginning but after a month it was ok. Nothing wrong with giving the brain a little workout, prevents dementia.
Just try it.
I am still using poser also, but i will not upgrade to poser 11. I always upgraded in the past, i guess i am not the only one not upgrading because of this issue. Very difficult to judge how many users have switched to daz studio, but i also see a lot of content for G3F offered on this marketplace. So that kind of content must sell very good thus quit a lot of people are using daz studio.
I regret that things are the way they are, but no one is to blame. Just simple company decisions to make as much profit as they can. SM could offer integrated daz content usability, but it would cost a lot more to implement that. So the price of poser would be higher or they would have to sell more copies of the software. I guess they evaluated this and made a good business decision. DAZ judged years ago that they could not go where they wanted to go with the poser platform, they took a big risk and started there software platform. It was also a good business decision.
Do not get frustrated about these things.

As a longtime poser user (since poser 2) i have recently downloaded daz studio and i am using it more then poser now. I did not like switching, but i had to. There is to much content out that is daz studio only and it is great content. I stil use poser, i will only upgrade poser to the next generation if it where possible to utilize new quality content.
All this in the long term is not good news for us users. I strongly belief in the benefits of companies having to compete. If daz would turn out to be the sole winner, we as user will pay for it money wise or in lesser quality. That is the nature of business.
So i hope that somehow there stil is a bright future for poser. I just can not see how that could be achieved.
I guess SM has some serious homework to do.
Smith Micro has a list of softwares they sell.Poser is a software.
DAZ is a vendor.I know they make DAZ Studio but that was only so they could have more control as a vender. make there meshes compatible for all softwares .They even have Max n Maya on there home page Poser to
Smith Micro is not a vendor. None of the companies that owned Poser ever was a vendor. 90%+ of Poser users has always depended on DAZ n Vicky.
I am aware that SM is a software company with many titles but as in all companies every product has to make a profit and as big as possible.
The succes of poser was in no small account made possible by the symbiosis between daz and poser. That is no longer the case and poser is in real need of other content creator(s). Sure there are content creators in this community and although i admire the hard work of these creators it is impossible as smal business to compete with daz.
So although sm does not provide content they surely must be aware that there profits from poser software will diminish if they do not come up with some third company creating content or if they would invest in the vendors that still are creating quality content from this community.

I have been using poser since poser 2. I am using poser pro 2014 and DAZ studio. I like both. I have a lot of content for V4 but i am not buying stuf for V4 anymore, i do purchase stuff for G3F. I hope that there will be a V4 replacement i am not planning on using V4 forever. Project E looks promising. I am afraid that POSER will suffer from this lack of new blood, i guess that starters will favor DS over POSER. DS being free and the base content also,.....i know it is expensive when one becomes a serious user.
I also guess that a lot of people switched from poser to DS. As other people posted V4 is such a huge success and has so much content, that other figures will always be less supported.
I hope people like erogenesis and the people at hivewire will get all the support they need from our community.
