Congrats on your camera, but SLR and digital are not mutually exclusive. Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Kodak--all make digital SLR's--that use normal lens mounts, etc.--just like a 'real' SLR LOL.
At the moment, I am using a Canon D60 with Canon 24-70L f/2.8, Canon 70-200L f/4, Canon 50 f/1.8, Sigma 15-30 EX f/3.5-4, Tamron macro 90 f/2.8 lenses.
LOL--we aren't crazy and glad you are joining us.
Hey there Alpha!!

Thanks. BTW, if anyone ever wants a Photoshop action for framing or matting for web use, I'd be glad to do it. My actions are for the proportions of my D60 (3/2) but I can do actions for other proportions (my E10 is 4/3--more 'View' proportion). I normally do it manually for any I crop differently. Its possible but not great to do one action that will work for anything. You can also choose colors for mattes, frames as action progresses because I put a 'stop' in. I'm gradually converting my pbase galleries to a simple frame--and I just changed the style sheets for the backgrounds to cream instead of black-I think it is easier on the eyes, though I've always liked color against black.Thread: Temptations. | Forum: Photography
Interesting how the canopy reflects the red to his face (and clothing too I guess). His expression also adds to your interpretation smile

The top is a gear I guess--found a pile of them behind a building on one of my Sunday morning walkabouts/driveabouts. Just good abstract shapes/patterns.
Here's same 'gears' without the bg--the black frame 'melts' into the black bg--ah, well.

Which accounts for the noise. Can you put your cam on a tripod and set for long shutter time?? Still--the one with the chimney is interesting image. Diane

Thanks--I'm just 45 minutes away from Mt. Mitchell, highest point east of Mississippi. Actually, I'm in the foothills and just a quick 1/2 hr. from Blue Ridge Parkway, altho' that one was shot near home with mts. in background.I'll look for more mt. shots. I have some on my pbase gallery site, but no recent ones. I was on the parkway Saturday but it was extremely hazy and nothing much attracted me (plus we were taking my mother for a drive--so not much time to wander around though I always have a camera with me LOL). Fall is coming--a beautiful time of year in the mts.

This is cathedral in Savannah, Georgia (US). No flash of course, so 400 ISO and I know that I used my Sigma 24-70, though I wished I had had my 15-30 on instead :>(

I particularly like the linked one--nice exposure, details nice. I gather you are scanning these images. What would happen if you scanned at high res and cropped for a composition you liked better--plus more focus on the butterfly??

I particularly like the first. I'm a great b/w lover--do a lot of it and always love to see others. I like the added contrast in the before/after--you might try playing with curves--which I prefer to levels, or in addition.

Very nice Michelle. I like the feeling that is generated by the photo--almost seems like an old colored drawing. I bet it would be interesting in b/w also--or maybe a sepia --or duotone. Diane

Interesting shots again--I agree the bust in B/W is a cool shot. Where is this house?? Perhaps Illinois/Chicago area??
