I've come no where near reaching the limits of the V4 and M4 series. I also have a lot of money tied up in clothes and figures. If I ever reach the point where I'm running into the limitations of V4 I'll likely upgrade allthough I'd tend to go with Erogenesis's upcoming Project E.
Thread: Welcome and General Blender Info for Newbies | Forum: Blender
Wow, Blenderartists is amazing. I've been reading it (off and on) for two days now and just scratched the surface. I've seen a few posts asking about importing Blender models to Poser and have directed them here.

Quote - I've found that whilst the windows/panels don't all close when shutting down Blender, if I save the file, they will all open with all my previous settings... in Linux.
They do the same thing in Windows too.
Thread: Staying healthy while we push pixels. | Forum: Blender
I brought it up because I get the impression that most folks here are fairly mature or experienced (as I like to call it). I abhor exercise but am very much aware of the fact that I've already outlived my father by 25 years (and I'm not even 60 yet) and have been a health nut and exercise freak for years. I include exercise into my day so that it doesn't feel like I'm "exercising" by doing the following,
-Bike to work year round (love them studded tires)
-Work office is on fourth floor and we have no elevator. I go downstairs every hour or so to pee or get a drink or have a quick peek at the achingly beautiful (and single!) project engineer as I pass her office.
-At home I take five minutes each hour to do a few push-ups or play with some 10 kilo dumbells. I also do a quick power walk down to the corner and tease the doberman that's tied up at the house there. (Effing thing got loose last year, bit my thigh and I got to sue the irresponsible owner for twelve grand.)
-In the winter I shovel the damn snow for five minutes every hour.
-have a lot of sex...oops, sorry, that was my inside wishful thinking voice talking.
Thread: how do you blend your pixels ?? | Forum: Blender
I use two monitors and multiple windows. My startup file opens them all but I hate having to close them all separately. I've just found a small tool that deals with this; see thread for 'bxmouse' tool.
I like to use my main monitor (on the right) for just the stage and put pallets or windows on the left one. In Premiere Pro I have the timeline spread across the bottom of both monitors. In Photoshop I have pretty much every pallet open so I don't have to search for the things.

Good for you! After running for 35 years I've substituted biking for many of my daily workouts as my knees are making funny noises. I've also switched to forestrike running on the two days a week I still run.

Quote - make fonts large enough for my ancient eyes to see properly at the default resolution.
Get glasses.
I had the optometrist tell me the approximate diopter for each eye then bought a bunch of cheap reading glasses at the drug store and swapped the lenses (.025 in my right and 1.25 left). I have the expensive pair (bought through the optometry shop) for computer work and keep my cheapo glasses all over the house. I have several in the garage for working on stuff and even tied a pair to the inside of my welding googles.

Quote - They will still be expected to provide customer support for that item, at least by their customers
I buy only V4 content and always let the vendor know how much I appreciate their continued support for Vicky.

Quote - @bentbobb If you're using Poser, you're using an IE component whether you're aware of it or not. > Quote - Yes of course, you're right....and I knew that. Sorry for being an ass. You'd think that at my age I'd know better.
Thread: Internet Explorer 11 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have not ever, ever, ever used, downloaded, upgraded any version of Internet 'corrupter'. Stick with a browser that isn't slow, buggy and unsecure. I've always used Opera since as a somewhat obscure browser it isn't nearty as big a target as IE.
Thread: Does Size Matter? | Forum: Blender
Quote - Or is size irrelevant for the amount of detail included in a model?
I'm pretty sure (99.999%) that that's correct. 'Size' makes no matter with regard to detail. I'm hoping that English Bob will pipe in with his advanced degree of knowledge about this stuff. I just had another look through the tutorials on his site in case I missed something. I also read through the Wiki on the obj format but found nothing to do with size or scale. I'm assuming that size is designated in each program.
I'm also waiting for someone to make a penis reference. Surely there's always room for a little base humour.
Thread: feedback asked on tutorials concept | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I enjoyed Cederwolf's reply. I have some experience as a technical writer and now prepare the digital assets for a company that makes online technical training packages for aircraft maintenance. I've been woefully disapointed by the state of tutorials for Poser. Some of them are downright crap. A person may be a great modeller but that doesn't qualify them as an instructor.
If you're going to charge for them, and you should if the material is in demand, please spend a few bucks and have your completed tutorial assessed by a technical writer or training company.
Thread: Does Size Matter? | Forum: Blender
Quote - The scaling is important because I sometimes create clothing and find that doing fine work in Blender in Poser's scale is horrendously difficult.
I don't understand this. A 3D file is the same as a vector graphics file in that it has no 'size' as compared to a bitmap which is a certain number of pixels tall by a certain number wide. Moving in (increasing magnification) just makes the pixels appear then get bigger. A vector image (or 3D file) can scale infinitely with no loss of fidelity since it's just a matter of the formulas that deleniate each point/line/plane using different numbers. When you resize it for export the formulas don't change, just the numbers.
Or have I got it wrong? Is there something else going on that I'm not aware of? I use vector graphics often in my work (Illustrator) and am completely familiar with how they work and the theory behind them. What I've read tells me that 3D files work the same way, just with another dimension plugged in.
I work in Blender at Posers scale using an exported manniquin as a reference and in my limited experience have not noticed any problems relating to size.
Thread: Does Size Matter? | Forum: Blender
Quote - . But I came across this well written article where the author who is a long time member within the Poser community shares some insight info which might help when it comes to scaling for Poser or Even Daz. http://www.morphography.uk.vu/scaleobj.html
This is run by English Bob who I magine will pipe up soon.
Thread: Does Size Matter? | Forum: Blender
I think this is something we should experiment with. I made a sculpted handle for a medieval gizmo and worked in Poser's scale. (I have Poser's basic manniquin model as a size reference). Sculpting seemed to work fine, and it exported to an obj then imported into Poser with no problems and looked as expected. I imported both the original messy mesh because I didn't know what I was doing then a better one after retopologizing.
I don't believe that it makes a difference in Blender as long as the exported obj is sized for Poser. I do know from experience that resizing in Poser can cause problems with geometry centers and positioning.
