Thems the breaks. My clients are very happy with what I have been doing with Carrara 6 Pro. It does a good job with product design and ad images for as yet unprinted packaging. As long as they are happy I am. So I guess I will just continue with that unless a really good offer comes along.
Thanks for the info. Carrara 7 didn't sound like that much of an improvement for the uses I make of Carrara anyway.

Hi,
STEP works fine. I decided to use Carrara Pro since this is an industrial object that I am dealing with. It comes in as a grouped set of objects that are easy to deal with.

Saving the Solidworks file as a "STEP" file works great. It imports into Carrara Pro well. My client is happy and I can now offer this deeper service.

I have never been very clear on what Daz is. Is it 3d software something like Carrara or what? I get their email letters and thats where I have been getting my Carrara and Bryce upgrades lately, but I have not understood just what it is.

Thank you all.
Adding the .BR6 to the end of the file name and opening from within Bryce is working. It seems clumsy to me, but, hey, it works.

Yippee skippy! I figured out the save issue. It turns out that because I am a lazy Mac guy I am used to double clicking a file to open it. Wrongo! I discovered that I am saving Bryce files afterall, but to open them I have to first open Bryce and then open the file from within Bryce, sort of like software used to be 15 years ago. I suppose I am missing something.

Where did you find Bryce 6.1 to download? Renderosity Support only appears to have 6.0??
I run on an Intel based Mac and have some issues.
I cannot save files. I save in the normal way, but when I reopen the file, it's the standard empy file. I'm not saving anything anymore. Pooh. But if it were easy ....

Choosing the first crossection does allow me to create multiples.
You all caught me, I am using Carrara 5.1.0.57 (what a lot of versions!)
Maybe I confused it with Bryce 6 which I also use a lot.

To Analog X and all the Bryce folk out there.
Thank you, after rooting through the DAZ forum I was able to load it all. I just had to ignore the constant stream of alert messages and keep loading the files, one after the other in the order that they were in on the DAZ download site. Zowee! It works!
