Re-installing/updating the graphics driver may also help (you didn't mention CPU/GPU render)

This thread reminded me I used to have a V3 character called Ava, inspired by the same person as you I'm sure :) She had a friend called Grace. They were both dial spinning creations. I seem to remeber Ava having very distinct cheek bones.
Both renders are Firefly. For some reason I could never get V3 skins to render well in Superfly :(

When I had trouble with the Elite morphs it was Weight Mapped joints that caused the problem. Like you they worked OK with a base figure.

A few possibilities-
File extension incorrect
Punctuation in filename incorrect
Double file extension and second one hidden by system

That's one helluva pz3 title.

FYI: Did some tests and apparently the scene I was trying to render in SF took up to much GPU memory. Even though the scene is only 200 MB I would keep getting a "Out of device or host mapped memory". Error would flash by so fast I didn't see it. Sadly no errors in poser log files or system error logs to indicate there was a problem. So after a little research this appears to be a GPU error. So I guess 6 GB of video memory isn't large enough for a GPU render of my scene.
One workaround is to reduce any 4k textures used down to 2k. I've done this with several building props including the Chroft Apartment and Parkside collections from DAZ. I back up the original folder and resize all the textures to 50%. Only you can decide which textures you can sacrifice the quality.

Can you set the two troublesome poppers to a different material zone? You can then use a simple transparency for them and he more complex one for those still on the fabric

If you open the Hierarchy window then you have the option to either hide (click on eye) or delete an object/figure. On a Windows machine you can click and Shift+Click to select a group of objects, then right click to get the delete or Visibility menu

this is already a thing with TV. They have embedded text and pictures onto TV shows as far back as "The Honeymooners." I've seen this myself. They hand animate text and embed it into the light areas of the video image like the white collars on dress shirts. Newer shows use some sort of digital animation but it's still in the brighter parts of the image.
I think that was the episode of Max Headroom with Blip-verts (sorry, that should be M-M-M-Max Headroom)

Was it the Snow machine by Snarlygribbly?
http://snarlygribbly.org/poser/
Thank you, it was :)
EZSkin does an excellent job of realistic skin in Poser 11 Superfly
Will be looking at that ASAP!
If you've not already thought of it then a sub to Renderosity Prime and/or DAZ Platinum (3 month) will more than pay for itself when catching up with new stuff.
As far as I've been able to find out, the latest several generations of Genesis no longer work in Poser, So I will probably be using Mil 4 figures. DAZ seem to have really taken off in their own direction. Too bad I never liked the UI in Studio.
Apologies, I was posting in a rush. I did mean to say M4/V4 stuff and props/settings. I do sigh sometimes when I see some settings and find they are DAZ Studio only. There are some threads here about importing Genesis figures into Poser but as I've not tried it myself I can't offer an opinion

Thread: Poser camera to real world focal length? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This maybe a slight hijack but does anyone have any suggested settings for a) human eyes b) GoPro camera
I'm thinking the 'sensor' area would be smaller and would need the camera scaling down as well as focal length
Thanks in advance

A WIP for a project I'm trying to get finished, featuring a tomb and a lady who will need no introduction. The hair needs a movement morph and the jewellery needs a colour boost, as well as the poke thru at the shin.
Having to remove alt diffuse and alt specular I find a real pain
