Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 09 3:46 am)
Both the X-Wing and TIE Fighter were brought into UV Mapper and then I applied the "split verticies" option. The dead give-away is the sharp, straight edges- without the "split verticies" option, the wing edges would look rounded. And how do you do "phong shading" in Poser 4? :) --John

Here are methods that I can think of: 1) You would have to not split the vertitices, which would give a nice, rounded look. However, this would affect the wings and any square detailing on the cockpit area. 2) Make the model as pieces: the cockpit area can be imported without splitting verticies and the wings (and detailing) could be brought in with split verticies. I may give this method idea a try with the TIE Interceptor. :) 3) Be able to adjust the "smoothing angle": edges (90 degrees) would not be smoothed, but polygons on a sphere would be smoothed. Unfortunately, Poser has no way of doing this: the smoothing angle is locked at around 120 degrees (or so). --John

Yep, definitely send me the obj files and I'll add them to the zip files. And that B-Wing is pretty sweet looking! :) I'll have to try your trick with my next rounded ship. --John

Now available (for free) at Vanishing Point: the TIE Fighter, from *Star Wars*, *The Empire Strikes Back*, and *Return of the Jedi*. This model has been "optimized" for use in Poser... but unlike my other vehicles, this model is a prop (instead of a figure). No moving parts or texture maps are needed, but it's scaled to the Poser people Please note that this item is available only to members of Vanishing Point.
