Without content the program would have died out long ago.
And without the program there would be no need for the content.

I'm reasonable sure, that 3D artists could live without Poser and content providers. But people, who are affected by Poser are sometimes not disposed to consider the alternatives. Shade could be good for those people. They might become inquisitive, if they have a real 3D modelling program at their hands.
Hmm, Shade might be the downfall of Poser.

You know what is right for you. I know what is right for me.

Shade might be the downfall of Poser. Yes and no - it could also HELP the Poser market. Shade can also be used to create content for Poser, especially with the price breaks that are given to those who already use Poser.

Actually, I'd like to add more to that thought ...

3D art (that is, the process of building, rendering, and texturing models yourself) takes patience and dedication. The beauty of Poser is that it allows you to create 3D art without all of the technical mumbo jumbo that a LOT of people don't have the desire to learn.

It takes at least a year to become really proficient at a 3D program and learn all of its features. So I think it's a safe bet that a lot of 3D hobbyists won't want to dedicate that much time into learning how to do it themselves.

Poser is about as close to a "make art" button that 3d hobbyists will ever have. 8-)

Yes and no... Hehe, please don't take my last remark too seriously. I'm planning to release some Poser products in the near future and gather a hoard of untold riches.

You know what is right for you. I know what is right for me.

Very true.
Poser (and content makers) helped me to become lazy and unambitious. It was mostly my own fault, but I will never forgive them anyway. :P

You know what is right for you. I know what is right for me.

"Shade might be the downfall of poser" I already use other 3d programs and poser and I doubt that shade will be so great that I would just change to that.

In order for shade to be the downfall of poser, shade would need to have a 'vidoeo game' interface like poser. ;)

Wow Marque... Being one of the people that got laid off I consider myself as somewhat of an insider. So... I can say with credibility (and no axe to grind) that nobody got FIRED as you put it. That's pretty harsh and mean spirited. Just as they have no right to post ads here, you have no right to post false accusations. If I wasn't a caring and compassionate person I would say you are full of shit. Since I "am" caring and compassionate I would guess that that was a statement based on anger and you are lashing out. I do enjoy reading your posts and still will in the future. I hope they are a little more on the mark though. On the mark? LOL... No punn intended on that one. :)

Check post 14. according to alamanos we got Steve Cooper fired. I'm not angry at CL, just won't buy products from them until they live up to their word. I'm glad though that you are now venting on me, my mom always said if they are talking trash about you they are giving someone else a break. 8^) Marque

I missed alamonos post. So you're just agreeing. Got it...

I'm not venting on you. I'm deeply sorry if it felt that way (this is the catholic in me, guilty whether you are or not). LOL...

I'd call it venting if I wasn't over it. I got over CL a LONG time ago. Just setting the record strait. wouldn't want people to get bad information

BTW: It can't be a cult mentality. In a cult people do what they are told. :)

Cheers,

Joe

I'm not angry at CL, just won't buy products from them until they live up to their word. I might buy an extra copy of Shade just to make up the difference. Someone's loss. Not mine.

This forum has become a complete waste of bandwidth, with the whingers dominating everything with their constant carping about one thing or another. This doesn't happen in the Terragen, Vue, Bryce or LightWave forums (or probably any other forum on this site). In the other forums, people actually welcome news of what companies are up to. For the 13 people that are left here, enjoy yourselves complaining about everything and congratulating each other about exorcising the nasty commercial posts from the forum. I fail to see the point of ever coming back in here. Enjoy your glorified lookup table.

well i've read the positive and the negative post on this product. and all i have to say is IF you have not messed with the Shade demo for a few months like i have and a few others. then the one who have not tried it shouldn't be throwing rocks at the company. We all know CL had its ups and downs like DAZ has, yet you still continue to support or use there products. you want to bring up the past. to me thats water under the bridge, and to those who haven't tried the new software, and still hold a grudge against CL in the past. may i kindly suggest you get in the boat and float down the waters under the bridge. As for other who have tried Shade demo, will be doing the smart thing, they will be walking across the bridge and letting bygones be bygones, and forget about the past. the question arises should this be posted in the Poser forums? Yes, Mainly because Its from Curious labs that make the product POSER 4 ,PPP, and P5 that you all use. Shade 7 is another program that can do wonders for our Posers. and that isn't an excuse. its just a fact, Most of all folks have been indulged into the DAZ Studio, but haven't really report o anything about Shade 7, and what it can do with your Poser. And as I have mentioned before i spread the word about this program to my clients and the people i do work for. Cause to me this product is worth endorsing to just about any one who enjoys creating art to their fullest degree. as the old saying goes, don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Unless you know what you are doing. We are Artists, we make art to please the eyes of others. For CL has my support, despite some of the rock throwers. So tho those who haven't tried it. don't be a expert critic, Download the Demo, Play around with it for a month or so, ( like you did with DAZ Studio) then you can put your 2 cents worth in. and throw the comments you want, as for me I'm a professional and i am going to get it. No matter what others think or say about it,. i've tried it, i like it, and dang sure going to put it to good use, Keep up the good work CL and E Front., for a excellent product,.

"I fail to see the point of ever coming back in here." Did you see the cool F16 model that dutchman is sharing, the David youth morph that usslopez is sharing, the recent tutorials by geep, SAMS3D's computer and desk models, or any number of threads in which forum members help each other out with issues both basic and advanced? What about Little Dragon's previews of Furette 2? That sort of thing is great! In spite of the excess of negativity here, which I agree about, there's a lot more enthusiasm, help, and fun here than there is negativity and "whining." Those labels don't really hold, anyway. Some of the people who were involved in the moved thread have a lot to offer, they're good people. This incident of Curious Labs being policed out of the Poser Forum was unfortunate IMO, but if you recognize the positive things about the forum and site, they do tend to outweigh the drawbacks by a long shot. "Enjoy your glorified lookup table." I don't understand how someone can protest the nastiness and then say that in the same post. ;-)
