Hi guys! I stumbled upon a site on which one can read about a magnetic motor (eh, "perpetuum mobile") and watch the jaw-dropping video showing the prototype in action; it looks VERY convincing to me so this time it could be the real thing - I know that many laptop-people would appreciate this...:-)

I tend to think of magnets as a kind of battery. Its just that it isn't too obvious as to how to convert the energy stored in the magnets field into something directly useful (at least without physically moving the magnet.) I think that with certain diamagnetic (a material repelled by magnets regardless of polarity) materials such as bismuth, that one could build a mill that would turn in the presence of a strong magnetic field. But then again I never really could figure out an easy and cheap way to get my hand on bismuth and strong magnets so I could test it.

There is a video at the site showing an amazing working prototype; it's looks like I've imagined that it should be (offset magnets on a wheel); the device is quite simple but ingenious, for me it's a miracle! The main problem however is the insane suppression of this kind of technology but I hope that it will get through this time (it will be on a TV show in Germany) so keep your fingers crossed... X :-)

Reading the discription it sounds very similar to the bismuth turbine thingy I came up with a while back. To bad I had the pics on MSN, can't seem to get 'em back (only option is to delete old pics for some reason.) Anyhow the idea for my model was that the field of the magnet would hit a bismuth blade. The field of the magnet is also restricted from coming around on one side by another plate of bismuth, which forces the field to flow around on the other side. Supposedly the idea was that you could throttle the thing using that plate. Seems like their way is different by using two sets of magnets, but the way the restrictor works sounds remarkably similar to the idea that I worked out (but never really got to test.) I did some research and might be able to find some bismuth fishing weights which could be somewhat cheap. Combine that with some speaker magnets, and I might have something. Hmmm... A lot cheaper than the 8500 (probably something like $10000 U.S.) that they want for theirs.

what show will it be on ? I dont think this will work same amount of energy thats generated moving towards the magnet will be needed to get away from it the movies are rendered ones and we all know about fysics in renderworld don't we lol. well they accidently might find some new ballbearing system.

for some free stuff i made
and for almost daily fotos

all I know is that moving magnets can create electricity, and electricity can create a magnetic field..I wonder, the energy has to come from somewhere..and all I know about the laws of Thermodynamics are..

  1. You can't break even*
just seems the energy has to come from somewhere..but who knows..this could be the next cold fusion..;)

What I recall about the laws is: 1- The energy is not created nor destroyed, but merely transformed from a form to another (e.g. wood is latent energy because can be transformed in heat thru combustion) 2- In a closed system (e.g. our universe), the quantity of energy in an utilizable form is always diminishing (so you can burn wood transforming it into heat, but then you have wood ashes that can't be used further). So no perpetual motion, sorry...

The term I like for such machines is "overunity". I once wrote a script based on it. Even if we never invent "something" that will run forever, people are creating some devices which surely operate for far longer than anything normal. I believe, anything is possible. AS

wind and solar power are pretty cheap to produce! I know I'm missing the point in that energy is still being consumed, but we don't have to replace the energy source, as the energy is being consumed anyway. Considering what human beings have achieved in the way of control of our environment, we should be able to come up with a better energy source than oil glower grumble grumble

nuski ( ) posted Sun, 05 September 2004 at 7:08 AM

The problem with coming up with a better energy source than oil is wealth and greed. The mega companies that have a monopoly on the resource market are powerful. . .and enjoy their status by controlling the political arenas throughout the world. Ask yourself this question. . .If you invented a magnetic automotive engine that would eliminate the use of gasoline, would it's development be welcomed by our current president. . .whose wealth is derived from oil? I think that you would wind up deep sixed with concrete shoes.

Here in Italy we have, since the later eighties, a fully functional variant of one of our automobiles running by a little electric device that divides hydrogen and oxygen from water contained in the fuel compartment, then use an hydrogen-cell motor to run the car. This prototype was devised and constructed by our mayor automotive industry... then left under a big layer of dust. The projected off-the-shelf cost of this car would be a mere 3000$ more than the main model (that costs around 12000$)... Talk about power plays... :P

AgentSmith ( ) posted Sun, 05 September 2004 at 10:03 AM

Oh, America is trying for the hydrogen powered car...but trust me, they will NEVER give us a car that will use the electrolysis in itself to divide the water in to hydrogen and oxygen. No oil-like profits in THAT... We are going to have hydrogen stations replacing the gas stations. ;o That way they can still make money off of us, instead of us just pouring water into our vehicles.... It's already (slowly) starting here. AS

If hydrogen cars were made available, I'm sure some people could easily run them for free. As long as they're near somewhere where the wind blows and the fresh water flows (many places like that around). Get a wind turbine or hydro power generator going, and store the excess energy in the form of hydrogen which is separated from fresh water. The only really tricky part is pressurizing and storing the hydrogen. Once that gets locked down, such systems should be easy to set up for cheap. (Also it wouldn't be too hard to set up some solar heated vacuum distilling units in places where the water isn't fresh enough. Fresh water is probably necessary for making hydrogen via electolysis, because you don't want salts that could form corrosive contaminants. HCls or NaOH, etc. Last thing one wants is a tank of high pressure H2 being eaten from the inside by that stuff.)

"Last thing one wants is a tank of high pressure H2 being eaten from the inside by that stuff." Is that a bad thing? :O "...and don't make the beams cross. It is bad." -"Please define bad..." "Imagine all the atoms of your body exploding at lightspeed..." -"...yes, that IS definitely bad!"

ROTFL, what is missing from the video's in the machines reaction to load, creating something that turns around is relatively easy, but once it's strapped to a generator that has current being drawn it's a different story.
