Just wondering, how do you work your textures? Like where do you find them, do you take them yourselves, do you make them yourselves, etc? drac

My Bryce content uses textures straight outta the DTE. Textures for my Poser stuff I make in Photoshop, and are usually based off of photos I have taken.

I don't think I would feel right using a texture or a photo created by someone else and then turn around and sell the model. So far I've used tweaked DTE textures, or photographic ones that I've made.

well obviously. my question was more towards the process you use in order to acheive those. like for instance can you import images into the dte? thanks

THAT would be uber cool But I don't think you can. A mixture of photographic and DTE. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I often use a procedural for the diffusion and an imported jpg for bump, etc. You needn't be stuck with only one or the other.

Some of mine are totally DTE, others are photograph based.

Keep in mind that you have 4 texture channel for each material.

Also keep in mind that you can blend channel a and channel b by either ctrl+clicking in the b column for an altitude based blend or ctrl+click in column c for a blend based on the alpha of c.

Also keep in mind that textures which are purely procedural are nmm mmmmmmmmm mmmmm m.m. mmmmmmmmm mmm. Mmm! MMM?

I have been doing a mix of procedural and my own pics. You need to make a mask for the pic in photoshop. It also helps if you......UV the model. (I hate it but I have found an easier way now) Then you add the picture texture and the mask in a channel higher than the DTE texture. (ie you have a DTE texture in A then you put your mask and pic in B) etc. I used that trick here. I have been lookign for a good way to combine both this seems to work it is a pain overall but it works out ok.

Most of my textures are photograph based or painted with photoshop.. and I can see the difference with procedural textures.. for a realistic render/image I (allmost) only use photos ( of mine )
