I sorta kinda understand what you just did there :)
However, I'm lost too....
That silver/black pattern in the middle, and the black pattern to the far right....are those things that came with the hair you are trying to rehue or are they something you created yourself to use?
I was trying to figure out how to rehue a hair the other day and I opened up the Material room and had no clue what to do. I didn't see anything like those other patterns you have in the middle and the far right. All that was there is the window like you have on the far left. What I did was to click on the hair and changed the colours in those too colour boxes in your image to the far left. But that only changed a section of the hair.
Part of my problem is is that I don't know what all that "stuff" there is. I don't know what each of those lines are for in that window to the far left, or why they are there or what they are supposed to do.

The highlighted areas of the Material Window are things I added/changed in the default Miki Material using the default Black haired maps that came with her. The HSV node controls Hue/Saturation/Value. The Math function is altering the contrast/Brightness of the black map. The images in the node are preview displays of what the node is doing. You can just copy what I did in the picture and you will get the same affect. Again, just thehighlighted elements are all you need to add/change.

Linda, with the node set up above, you can just change the disffuse color when you want a new color. The rest you can leave alone when you are done setting it up. Then save as a collection into the Matrial Library.

Anton, thanks for this info, it will certainly save the time I spend generating new texture maps by exactly the kind of brightness and contrast adjustments you're doing here (with maybe a spot of colour involution thrown in for colour adjustment). I must ask though, what the effect of having the Hue value greater than 1.0 does? The P6 manual (known for its helpful detail and 100% accuracy, LOL) describes the Hue setting as ranging between 0 and 1.
Verbosity: Profusely promulgating Graham's number epics of complete and utter verbiage by the metric monkey barrel.
I've had one walk through in the Material Room on Saturday, and now looking at those screenshots, I actually understand what is going on :) I see that when I do starting working in that room, I'll have to reposition the windows and work from left to right instead of right to left as in the screenshots. To me it makes more sense to see how something starts on the left... ie: the black texture, and how the added nodes and adjustments make changes and ultimately progress to a final result on the right instead of vice versa. I think that is part of the problem. I've been trying to read them from the left when in fact the way they are layed out in most screenshots is to be read from the right.
