Quote - I would model it and make it a conforming figure . You could make it a texture for the figures bodysuit or other suitable clothing item .
That's what I was originally thinking - a conforming figure. But aren't those hard to make?
I don't think a texture would work very good in this situation though...
Can be done, but it's not easy getting the folds just right.
The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
I couldn't make it in time for Y3K New Year's Eve, but it can be done, no problem. :) The deep draping of the folds might take some work in anything but a top-end 3D package that has some good cloth-draping plugins and a user that knows how to use them right. :)
As far as "conforming figure" goes, sure, it can be done. In fact, making it a conforming figure would be easier than just making the object itself. The only downside is that some of the draping might get a bit squishy in extreme poses so some tweaking would have to be done on the conforming end, IMO.
PhilC has some excellent Vid Tutorials on creating conforming figures, IIRC. Also, there are a lot of regular tutorials on it available just from a decent google search.
PS - I can't remember if it is Aery Soul or EvilInnocence that has a "Ribbon" freebie/product out there. (Dance Ribbon, the kind used in floor gymnastic dance.) I don't have it, but if that conforms to the figure's body in any way, you could take a look at that first to see how it was done/looks.
Actually, rathat than confroming, I'd consider making this a dynamic prop - parent the object to the clothing underneath, set the fastened ends as constrained points, and run the simluation. You're likely to get better results of the sash in motion that way, as it crosses various bodyparts, than you are with it bending with the body a la conforming clothing.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to do yesterday, actually. I was seeing if I could simulate a piece of cloth wrapping around him like that, but Poser crashed... Eheh.. Guess that took too much power or something...
I would recommend getting the basic shape made in another program - trying to wrap a rectangle of cloth around your firgue is going to be a nightmare. Use your reference pics to build it in something else - if you're looking for a no-budget modeler, there's Wings 3D, Blender, or Anim8tor - , then expoty/import it as an obj, and then clothify it.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to make a sash wrap like in my drawing for Hiro 3 for Poser:
It's part of a character design I'm working on, but I don't know how to model or anything yet.. Would this be really hard to make? I'm wondering how someone could really make it, if it is possible..
Feedback is greatly appreciated! And thanks in advance!
