Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 08 9:27 am)
I'm going to get CS5 Ex. I hope it does a better job. But, assuming it's cs4e, and I export as a wavefront.obj, can I import into Photoshop so that the textures, materials, colors, lighting, all look as they did in the Poser render? In other words, will I get a uni-colored plastic-looking thing, or will it look as the figure did in the render?
I dunno if cs5e supports IBL/IDL/GI, but at least cs4e will import the three default infinite lites.
ask in photoshop forum about automating the process whereby it applies the tiff file to all mtls.
for me it doesn't load the tiff file by itself, even tho in same folder level as obj file.
I have CS4 extended and have been trying to find a tutorial on how to export a Poser 3d mesh with textures into Photoshop CS4 extended and then open it..Can anyone assist and I cannot find a tute anywhere? Cheers

I did manage to find this, after posting my question here:
Look at Chapter 19 »3d Basics« in
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Photoshop/11.0/photoshop_cs4_help.pdf
»Photoshop supports the following 3D file formats: U3D, 3DS, OBJ, KMZ, and DAE.«
if the tutorial only needs to involve how to export poser figure from poser, very simple (OS X).
opening the obj file in cs4e just requires using the "open" cmd. the downside is how slow it
manipulates and renders in cs4e IMVHO, but at least one can paint directly on the obj.

I have PoserPro2010. I'm about to buy, when it's released, Photoshop CS 5. If I wish to export a figure from Poser so that it can be imported in Photoshop, how do I go about that? Does PoserPro2010 have that ability already built in?
