I am a complete noob when it comes to conforming clothing.  That being said I ahve read every tutorial I can find and I still don't get it.  Following Microsmith's tut step by step I get several major problems.  The first is when I leave the setup room I get the message telling me not all my polygons are grouped to a bone, doesn't matter how simple the item, or how many times I group it all up, I get this message.  Problem 2 is the piece does not move with the figure at all.  3rd is the bone that points forward from the hip, (pic), for some reason it is attached to my clothing item when I leave the setup room.

Any help?  Or directions to a less vague tutorial?

Thnx gang.

I can see U R  using an existing rig  from  an  existing  figure. - - - to  make a piece of clothing for this figure

So you have the "setup"  object  present  ( the faux  male organ) because  you  have groups  in your  clothing OBJ  which  do  not match  any of the names  of the body  parts of the character rig.

So  fix  that  issue first,  before trying to  conform  the clothing to the character -   this is your second mentioned  problem -  the clothing does not move  because  you  did not conform  your clothing figure to  the character figure  after you  left set up  room.

if  you  fix  your  poly  group  names  to  make sure eveything  is  also  named  over in  the character ....then  you  can leave setup  room without that  error warning,  you  wont see the male organ,   and you  will  then be able to  select FIGURE- CONFORM TO- " yourcharacter"  you  made the clothing for.

OH damn  I just  noticed  this is  a tail.... it looks like you  are needing only a tail ?????

making this a conformer to  a figure might not be your best  bet .

going this way  mean  you  will most likely  want to have the HIP  bone  of the  charcter  be the HIP bone of the tail.

but then  you might be hard  pressed for the tail  to have a nice  string of  bones  for  wavy  tail movements.

I think you  should make a stand alone  tail  figure  with its  own bone structure - ( again  , see PHIL C  tutorial  video)  and then  parent this figure to  the rearend part of the character.  forget about ripping the characters  rig  and making a conformer.

No no, its actually a lightning bolt thingamajig that will run down the outside of both legs, so it will conform almost like a pair of pants.  And your tips were right on the money.  I followed them step by step  and it worked perfectly.  Thanks for all the feedback.  :)

BTW  I like your quote.  I find it inconceivable that someone else picked that line out of that movie to remember.  :D
