Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 07 12:47 pm)
Not knowing what is in your library, it won't be possible to give you an answer on everything. In general though the answer is yes on most things Generation 4 figures and earlier. If you have a lot of Daz Studio light sets and DS materials, those won't work. The rule of thumb is that if it was made in a poser format it should work, but that is a generalization.
basically, anything that is in a proper runtime structure will be fine in Poser.
be aware, Poser cannot read ANY file that is in a DS format.
another point is that if you have gotten used to using the Content Manager Database in DS2/3, you will soon get p***ed off with an unsorted/unorganised runtime.
depending on how much you have installed in the DS runtime, it may pay to start from scratch and organise a runtime or runtimes to suit your workflow.
Poser 7 on can quite easily use external runtimes ( if you use Vista or W7. you know both hate user files in Programs)
i believe from Poser 8 on, you can put all your files in one folder in the libraries.
ie for a Hair Figure( or Prop) you can have the associated .pz2, .pp2 and .mc6 files as sub-folders inside the main product folder in the Characters folder of your library.
the only files that must stay in the original folders are the actual geometry ( .obj) and the texture files ( .jpg etc) which must stay in the Geometries and Textures folders.
hope this helps :))

I need to work within a solid platform. I used to work with Poser but shifted to DAZ Studio because I could afford it (free mostly) and pay for models. Now I need a stable platform. And to keep working.
Bryce doesn't work on my Mac and Daz is upgrading (whatever). Here's what I need to know:
my entire DAZ library: can i use it as it is in Poser Pro.
Not a flame. I need to work.
Thanks for any help or advice.
