Subject: Poser 11.2 Floating Palettes Hog Screen when other apps jave fpcis/

Running on MacOS and running Poser 11.2, If I open another app like Photoshop, all its windows are covered up by the Poser floating windows like the document window. Never happened with any previeous version of Poser. Is there an option to turn off this obnoxious screen-hogging behavior?

I'm not on a Mac, so I don't know how different the Poser UI is from the Windows version, and I've not had this issue with my Photoshop, though it's an older version, so that may be the reason if you have a newer version of Photoshop.

I'm assuming you don't have any palette windows flowing around while you have Poser open. The one thing I always do for 98% of my Poser palette windows that are open all the time is, I disable Drag-Dropping. That makes each of them permanently in the place I have each of them, unless I decide to move one at some point.

Just right click in the upper right corner of each of the palette windows, and deselect it as shown in the screenshot below.

I'm on Windows, and have the newest version of Photoshop installed. I don't have this problem, so maybe it's Mac-only?

I prefer to have some of my palettes permanently floating, so if I did have this problem, docking them would not be a solution.

Yes, I know several people that have some of the palettes floating. If I were working on a desktop, instead of a laptop, and had a large monitor to work with, then I probably would do that, because I would have room to move things around. Since I'm working on a top resolution of 1600x900 , there's not enough room to do that, and still have a sizeable workspace.

I do work on a desktop...but I keep some palettes floating because I don't have room to dock them. :-D

I keep the animation palette floating, because for some reason I tend to hit it when adjusting parameter dials if it's docked. I don't know how many times I've tried to change a parameter, and suddenly had a looped animation start. That never happens if the palette is floating.

And I keep the hierarchy editor floating, because I like having it up but there's really no space to dock it. So I move to someplace out of the way, and when it's in the way, move it someplace else.

I really should get a second monitor.

Oh a second monitor would definitely be useful in that case. I know folks who work on one monitor, and use the second one for rendering.

If I ever go back to using a desktop, I would probably get a dual monitor setup, and not just for Poser. It would come in handy in a lot of instances.

I have a 4k monitor and I can't stand floaty stuff. I have the lot docked, so I can keep an eye on the sneaky buggers.

I think I'd have to have three monitors if I had more than one. I hate having a divide in the middle, if you're playing games, say.

I'm the same Sam, as I only have one floating window, Joe/Netherworks' Scene Toy Pro, and that's only because I want it visible in several of the Poser windows, AND because once I have all content set up in the scene, I then close it, and use the Hierarchy Editor, which is docked. I just prefer Scene Toy's window to start with.

I've noticed this today, but it's only the buttons (pose, interface etc) palette that stays on the screen.
