LOL! Damn that Intel floating point math! Although I don't think that they have had a prob with is since the 486 :) Unfortionately this is a bug in Carrara :( I'm sure that someone will chime in with a work around for it here in a bit...but if at all possible, avoid booleans at any cost in Carrara...Hey, at least its not crashing when you use them :) I can already see kaom's reply to this one...get ready for the Rhino pitch :) ... he's awesome with it! Jared
Hmm......... Maybe the next patch for Carrara will address this. Or you could just buy Rhino and end all these troubles.LOL You were right rockjockjared, I love to pitch Rhino for the modeler that it is, I truly love it.********* Are you using primatives to do your booleans? Or are you using spline objects, and what are setting the quality to? I wish I had a simple answer for you. You know who might have the answer you need? MarkBremmer, that guy is a genius with a Carrara, and litst might know something we don't about this. hang in there, I'm sure someone will have an answer better than anything I can come up with. Or again just get Rhino, I'm kidding, no maybe I'm not.heh And your right, at least Carrara doesn't crash on these anymore, isn't that a nice feature. Let's give eovia a big roung of applause, for trying to sve our friend Carrara, there will be a solution, don't give up! Hey rockjockjared, when do we get to see that Ford your working on? I need some inspiration, I can't wait to see it. kaom
The bollens in Bryce are a different operation, they only "hide" areas that are subtracted & don't cut them out. In C, you need to have a high quality setting in order to have enough faces & vertices to work with. The flat blade area will only have a couple to work with & that's part of the problem. There is some info at the egroups site (archives) that Antoine put together regarding booleens with C.
Kaom...the ford will be done eventually...I haven't had too much time to actually work on it with the band and other projects going on :( but it will get done, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and hopefully within the next couple of months! I'll be posting a wip when I finally get most of the kwirks out of the body...i've had to start over a couple of times...since then I have been saving as I go so that I can just go back rather than scratch the whole thing. It's a long and on going process, but I promise that Renderosity community will be the first to see it when i'm done! Hell, I'll even message you to let you know it is up :) Jared
Hi Jim, Booleans are problematic in any 3D software. In Carrara you have the luxury of choosing between different modellers to avoid booleans if possible. The razor blade is a good match for the spline modeller. If desired, after the spline operation, you could convert it to a vertex model to sharpen the cutting edge. Let me know if you need an example of of any of these suggestions. Mark
